3-Way 5" Nearfield Monitor with Coaxial Mid/High Driver!

Designed as a precise monitoring system for smaller rooms, Kali Audio presents the 3-way 5" nearfield monitor IN-5. The evolution of the successful LP series features a sophisticated bass reflex system with a level-stable woofer.

Instead of the usual tweeter with 3D imaging waveguides, this model uses a coaxial mid-high combination. The profile-optimized 4" midrange driver also acts as a waveguide. By limiting peak excursion to 1 mm, intermodulation distortion—common in coaxial systems—has been avoided. The midrange driver also relieves the woofer and tweeter, resulting in the IN-5 delivering a more harmonious and distortion-free performance than conventional 2-way studio monitors.

The woofer’s crossover frequency is set at 280 Hz, turning the IN-5 into an acoustic point source. Phase cancellations on the vertical axis are virtually eliminated. Instead, the IN-5 offers a consistent dispersion across the entire frequency range with excellent depth layering and imaging. The stereo image also benefits from the coaxial arrangement, enabling a detailed mix. Thanks to the "Boundary EQ" known from the LP series, the IN-5 can be easily adapted to various studio environments just like its sibling models.
