Powerful, Dynamic Analog Modeling + PCM Sound Engine

The electribe’s sound engine offers 55 types of analog modeling oscillators for fast and flexible sound development. The selection of waveforms is immense – from simple versions like saw, pulse, triangle, and sine to complex variants like sync, ring mod, cross mod, and VPM. The carefully selected parameters achieve maximum effect with minimal changes. Simply select an oscillator and turn the knobs to create smooth basslines, gigantic poly synth sounds, warm pads, or endless variations of other synthetic tones.

The available PCM oscillators are ideal for creating sequences or beats and offer 257 drum/perc sounds, 44 instrument sounds like piano, organ, brass, and guitar, as well as 52 voice and sound effect types. The newly added support for polyphonic performances is an important element of house music and other styles where chords play a key role.

Many Filter Types for Subtle Sound Design

Filters are a central element of synth sound design and can dramatically change the sound generated by the oscillator. In addition to a newly developed, special electribe filter, there are 16 algorithms available such as MS-20, MG, P5, OB, and Acid, which simulate the filters of classic synthesizers. By simply choosing one of these filter types and adjusting its cutoff and resonance parameters, creative freedom opens up for crafting innovative sounds.

Modulations expand sonic expression possibilities and are intuitively controllable on the electribe. Modulation sources like EG and LFO are pre-assigned to modulation targets such as filter cutoff and oscillator pitch, so you only need to select one of the 72 modulation types and adjust speed and depth parameters to achieve the desired effect.

A total of 32 insert effects including compressor, overdrive, and EQ are available and can be applied individually to all parts. This gives you unrestricted control over every nuance of your sound.

Velocity-Sensitive Trigger Pads and X/Y Touch Pad in Perfect Harmony

Pattern creation through note input or X/Y-generated phrases. With the electribe, you can enter up to 64 steps (16 steps x 4) per part (sound) and combine up to 16 of these parts per sequence pattern into beats.

The electribe’s step sequencer allows extremely intuitive pattern creation. The 16 trigger pads and the XY-controlled touch pad offer various modes that let you input your rhythm and phrase ideas without musical knowledge and reproduce them immediately.

Ideal for previewing sounds before recording a sequence. By rhythmically playing the velocity-sensitive trigger pads like a drum kit, you can input impressively authentic drum and percussion patterns.

Sequencer Mode

Ideal for inputting rhythms. The 16 trigger pads correspond to 16 steps and allow step-by-step recording of rhythm patterns. This method lets you see the timing of notes and edit after real-time recording.

Keyboard Mode

Ideal for playing melodies. The 16 trigger pads act as a keyboard where you can play entire melodic lines according to the scale/key settings and even change the octave.

Chord Mode

Ideal for playing chords. To sound a chord according to the scale/key settings, simply strike one of the trigger pads.

Touch Pad

Gate Arp Mode

Ideal for playing bass riffs or hi-hat parts with maximum groove. While playing on the trigger pads or touch pad, you can use the gate arpeggiator to generate rhythmically detailed note values.

Touch Scale Mode

Ideal for musical novices who can’t play melodies on a keyboard or are looking for new inspiration. Like with the Kaossilator, you simply move your fingertip over the touch pad and can generate any phrases without wrong notes according to the selected scale/key settings.

With the electribe, you can seamlessly edit sounds and input sequences in parallel. You play in the sequence and edit the sound while listening. Efficient beatmaking, which is difficult to achieve with a DAW alone, becomes stress-free fun with the electribe, as you can be creative in the flow of the heard music.

Motion Sequence for Recording Parameter Changes

The motion sequence function records knob movements and reproduces them. This lets you add varying movements to your sound loops over time and create completely individual sound progressions.

Last Step Selector for Creating Unconventional Time Signatures

The last step function changes the number of steps in the selected part. By setting a different step count for each part, you can develop unexpected and unconventional rhythms. This function is also a good way to quickly change the character or length of a song.

Groove Function for Natural Rhythms

A total of 25 groove types are available, reproducing the playing technique and rhythmic feel of percussion instruments like congas and bongos. By choosing a groove type for each part and adjusting its dynamics, you can create an authentic rhythmic feel free from the original 16-step grid.

Total Pattern Control for Studio or Stage

Real-Time Sequence Control Without Limits

Sequences created with the electribe can be flexibly varied and combined using stage-specific functions. For example, with the step jump function, you can instantly jump to a pressed step and develop dynamic performances indistinguishable from a live show.

Or during a live performance, you can add more sounds via trigger pads or touchpad and be sure no wrong notes are played thanks to scale/key settings. The created sequences are not only perfect for stage performances but can also be subtly or drastically modified in real time. These dynamic processes are one of the many highlights of the electribe.

Building and Managing Entire Arrangements with Pattern Set and Pattern Chain

With the pattern set function, you can assign your favorite sequence patterns to the trigger pads and switch between them instantly during performance to vary the beat.

OS version 2 added a pattern chain function that lets you seamlessly link multiple sequence patterns and develop the song over a longer stretch.

Effect Performance in Real Time with X/Y Pad

The touch pad lets you freely control the master effect like on a Kaoss Pad. You can define the overall acoustics with spatial effects or influence the texture of the sequence with the "Looper," as well as trigger aggressive musical transformations with effects like "Seq Reverse" or "Odd Stepper" and set surprising accents during live performance.

Sync, MIDI, and Audio In Jacks for Integration into Any Setup

Via its sync jack, the electribe can easily connect with a volca model, electribe sampler, SQ-1, or another KORG groove machine to hold complex, sequencer-synchronized performance sessions. MIDI ports are available for interaction with a DAW. This lets you expand any laptop-based stage setup with an electribe and its versatile performance capabilities.

By connecting external devices to the electribe’s audio in jack and selecting its "Audio In" oscillator, you can process the input signal with filters and effects or switch the output on and off with the step sequencer to increase performance intensity.

In the past, machine-focused live setups consisted of countless synthesizers, samplers, and sequencers. Today, the electribe can take on various roles, either as the master device at the center of such a setup or as a slave device adding extra shine to a performance. Optimization of Recorded Sequences

New Production Workflow through Interaction with Ableton Live

With DAW software, you develop your self-created beats into a finished product. In collaboration with the German company Ableton, KORG offers a new music production workflow that uses both hardware and software.

Besides conventional audio export, the electribe can also export to the "Ableton Live" DAW software. When exporting the corresponding project file to Ableton Live, an independent audio file for each part is saved on a track in Ableton Live, allowing detailed editing with loop, mute, or chop functions and mixing the result. After the musical idea quickly takes shape as a sequence, you can then refine the details with the software. This new electribe workflow enables much faster music production thanks to hardware use.

Event Recorder for Recording Knob Operation During Performances

All procedures performed while playing the electribe, including trigger pad and touch pad operation, can be recorded with the event recorder function. The recorded performance is saved in a special electribe format and can be immediately replayed with all real-time manipulations.

Battery Operation

The electribe can also be powered by six AA batteries. This makes you completely location-independent and lets you instantly turn spontaneous inspirations into beats and performances anywhere.
