Now I've ended up with the SSL12, and I'm very satisfied. The MicPre's have plenty of headroom, are virtually noise-free and the 4K circuitry does what it should.
The headphone output is loud enough with 250ohm headphones, but can be turned up a bit in the software mixer to satisfy everyone.
The feel is great, nothing wobbles or creaks. Only the buttons seem too smooth to me (a matter of taste).
The software is easy to understand, easy to handle. Connection to Cubase was no problem, and the software bundle is very comprehensive.

What can I say? The part works great! It's intuitive and installed in no time. The 4K setting actually makes an audible difference and is especially enriching for vocals.
Contrary to some opinions from the internet, you can also work very well with a not so high impedance headphones. Mine has only 50 ohms and I still have enough headroom. All in all a purchase recommendation.
