The active SONAR Xi models are designed as fullrange speakers for stand-alone applications, front PA, stage monitors, or as powerful mid-high units in subwoofer/satellite systems. Their elegant yet robust plastic housings are built to withstand years of "on the road" use without complaint. A steel grille backed with acoustic fleece protects the speakers from rough mechanical impacts, dust, and splashes.

The clever, push-button adjustable tilt pole mount allows optimal sound projection towards the audience. Thanks to the angled cabinet design, the SONAR Xi models can also be used lying down as monitors, and the M10 flying points simplify ceiling mounting in clubs and pubs.

When every kilo and centimeter counts, but you still want a smooth, pleasant bass range, the SONAR 110 Xi is the perfect solution. As a satellite paired with the SONAR 115 Sub D, as a monitor on tight stages, or as a highly portable PA solution, e.g., in schools, the SONAR 110 Xi plays to its strengths. And with 800 watts of amplifier power, it offers confident reserves even when things need to get louder.

Intuitive Control via Color Display

The built-in digital mixer offers two channels for microphone or line signals plus an AUX channel, which can receive signals both analog and via Bluetooth® 5.0 simultaneously! The mix out serves to feed additional speakers or can be used as a source for live recordings.

Each of the three channels features its own volume control and a fully equipped 3-band EQ. Additionally, three sound modes are available (Live, DJ, Monitor) plus a preset for use with the SONAR subwoofer. The mixer has a master volume control that also operates the DSP menu.

Thanks to Bluetooth® TWS (True Wireless Stereo), stereo audio streaming over two SONAR Xi models is now seamless. Two paired SONAR Xi units can be remotely controlled simultaneously via the Remote app.

Remote Control App for iOS and Android

The SONAR REMOTE app for iOS and Android tablets and smartphones offers far more than just remote control for the built-in digital mixer. It allows full control of all settings and functions of the SONAR Xi models, including the 3-band EQ parameters per channel. Scenes can be saved to recall frequently used presets, e.g., adjustments for commonly used microphones, changing SONAR Xi setups, or basic tuning for different venues.

All settings made in the app are simultaneously displayed on the SONAR Xi box’s screen—and vice versa. Both displays synchronize in real time.

An extraordinary highlight is the cardioid function, which drastically reduces volume behind the box when using two SONAR 115 D Subs. This professional feature requires no additional adjustments and is accessible without complicated calculations.

The Cardioid Principle

To increase bass sound pressure, a second SONAR 115 Sub D can be used. In the classic full-stack setup with two front-facing subs, a "surround" sound pressure increase of 3 dB is achieved. What makes the SONAR 115 Sub D special are its cardioid capabilities. Two special presets enable a cardioid setup, where the lower bass radiates backward, without complex calculations or delay corrections.

The lower SONAR bass is aimed backward and the "Cardioid Rear" preset selected, while the upper bass faces forward with the "Cardioid Front" preset. Both bass units then play perfectly together without further adjustments.

When and Why Does a Cardioid Setup Make Sense?

The cardioid principle is based on canceling frequencies radiated backward. While mid and high frequencies can be directed, low frequencies spread spherically. This often leads to excessive bass behind and on stage. Increasingly, event organizers require precise sound distribution, e.g., for festival tents and city center stages.

The SONAR 115 SUB D meets all mechanical and acoustic requirements to quickly and easily implement effective cardioid setups, with up to 34 dB reduction of bass radiated backward! This not only makes stage performance much more relaxed but also improves sound quality, as microphone pickups are no longer affected by low frequencies.
