The DZR series includes Yamaha’s first fully integrated, smart, and editable professional active speakers. It combines Yamaha’s extensive experience in sound reinforcement, acoustics, and signal processing – especially in the Dante-enabled models.

Yamaha DSP: Intelligent Processing for Consistent Clarity and Power

Advanced FIR-X Tuning

96 kHz DSP processors allow the DZR models to convert their considerable power into high-resolution sound with extremely low latency. Yamaha’s newly developed Advanced FIR-X Tuning represents a significant improvement of FIR-X technology, employing linear-phase FIR filters for crossovers and correction EQs. Using FIR filters makes it possible to achieve an exceptionally smooth frequency response with breathtaking transparency and detail reproduction without phase distortion. The precise filters also allow fine adjustments for maximum clarity and the highest SPLs in this class without signal loss.

A built-in LCD screen enables operation of DSP functions, loading presets, and precise adjustment of PEQ, delay, and routing. Up to eight user presets can be saved to store custom parameter settings. Alternatively, factory presets are available for using DZR and DXS-XLF. Saved settings can be easily transferred to a USB stick.

D-CONTOUR

D-CONTOUR is an intelligent multiband compressor that ensures the consistently clear sound of the DZR speakers even under heavy load. The system continuously analyzes the output signal across multiple frequency bands and optimizes the respective EQ settings. This keeps the exceptional clarity and musicality of the DZR speakers intact even at the highest levels.

As a perfect complement to the versatile enclosure design of the DZR series, D-CONTOUR offers two different settings: FOH/MAIN and MONITOR. This allows the sound to be finely tuned for various sound reinforcement applications. The FOH/MAIN mode boosts low frequencies that typically get lost when speakers are flown or mounted on stands. The MONITOR mode is designed for use as a floor monitor and reduces low frequencies slightly to counteract floor reflections. Additionally, the frequency response is largely smoothed to provide stage professionals with the transparency they expect. Both settings have been extensively tested and refined with sound engineers to deliver consistently high-quality sound at any level.

DSP Protection Functions for Maximum Level and Durability

One advantage of active systems is the perfect matching of drivers and amplifiers to achieve the best possible sound. During the development of the DZR and DXS-XLF series, we measured and tested the durability of each transducer and the total output of the amplifiers to optimally set limiter points for each model with precise DSP control. Using the same protection functions as Yamaha’s professional high-end amplifiers, the state-of-the-art DSP continuously monitors power supply, amplifiers, drivers, and signal levels to protect each component and optimize its performance. This also extends the lifespan of the components.

High-Performance Class-D Amplification with 2,000 Watts

The completely new, highly efficient Class-D amplifier module delivers an impressive 143 dB SPL with 2,000 watts of power. A universal switching power supply with PFC maximizes output power while ensuring stable operation. All amplifiers were selected and tailored for their respective frequency ranges in the high, mid (DZR315 only), and low paths of the DZR full-range speakers. The DXS-XLF subwoofers also feature appropriately matched amplifiers.

Specially Designed Transducers

Tweeter

The tweeter transducers consist of a 2-inch voice coil and a 1-inch horn, a titanium diaphragm, and a neodymium magnet, all housed in a heat-resistant, durable die-cast aluminum frame.

Woofer

The newly developed woofers use large 3-inch voice coils, aluminum die-cast frames, and an extremely strong and lightweight neodymium magnet to deliver powerful low frequencies despite the light weight. The vibration behavior is crisp and controlled, especially in the mid-bass range and vocal reproduction, so the sound remains powerful and distortion-free even at the highest levels.

Power and Flexibility

Smart Design and Professional Features

The DZR15, DZR12, and DZR10 speakers feature a rotatable horn, allowing both vertical and horizontal speaker placement. This enables perfect adaptation to the acoustic conditions of any venue. The dispersion angle of the DZR15 is 90x50°, while the DZR12 and DZR10 offer 90x60° from a vertical position. The constant directivity horns were developed to achieve uniform coverage across the entire area without the drop-off typical of other horn designs.

The wooden enclosure walls are 15 mm thick and coated with extremely durable polyurea. The enclosure sides of the full-range speakers are connected to reduce vibrations and increase structural durability. The large bass reflex port is shaped to effectively minimize air noise even at high levels. The enclosure designs of the DZR15 and DZR12 and their Dante models allow mirrored monitor placement, creating a symmetrical sound field with a larger, more defined sweet spot for the artist than conventional monitoring setups. (DZR10 and DZR10-D are asymmetrical.) Whether in dual-mono or stereo monitor setups, mirror-mode monitoring can significantly enhance the artist’s playing and performance.

Useful Features for Safe Operation

The DZR series allows quick and easy configuration of panel settings as well as data transfer via USB and offers a panel locking function to secure settings. Users can even export information such as internal device and log data to enable fast troubleshooting in case of technical issues.

Speaker Stands Made of Durable Steel

The practical stand ensures a secure footing for your speakers with its stable tripod construction, whether on stage, in the rehearsal room, or in clubs. Various adjustment options guarantee maximum flexibility in positioning, and an additional metal pin secured with a nylon strap on the stand provides extra protection against accidental speaker falls.
