Yamaha MG06 - Suitable for Live and Studio!

Yamaha has always aimed to offer its customers the purest, most uncolored sound possible, leaving the mixing engineer all doors open. While coloration may sometimes sound appealing, it imposes a clear direction on the mix that can strongly limit the producer's creative freedom. Naturally, the MG series was developed strictly according to this Yamaha belief. It follows the philosophy that sound should above all be pure and transparent like a mountain stream. Therefore, these consoles deliver a clarity of sound never before seen in this class.

The MG series includes numerous models with 6 to 20 channels, suitable for many different tasks. The intuitive user interface, robust construction, high sound quality, and flexible design of these reliable consoles are unrivaled in the compact class and ensure that nothing stands in the way of great mixes.

D-PRE (Discrete Class-A Microphone Preamplifiers)

The preamps are the starting point for good sound. If their quality is insufficient, no great mix can be achieved, no matter how hard the engineer tries. In other words: this is where the course for the mix is set, or where a preliminary decision is made about how good it can sound. The MG series mixers feature Yamaha's studio-grade, discrete Class-A preamps. They use an inverted Darlington circuit, which thanks to a so-called dual-transistor cascade delivers more power at lower impedance. D-PRE amps provide a fat, natural bass and silky highs with extremely low distortion tendency.

Thanks to their wide, very balanced frequency response, the preamps handle all conceivable signal sources without overemphasizing any frequency range. This clean sonic foundation saves you time and effort, as extensive EQ adjustments or other sound treatments to correct the mix become unnecessary.

Operational Amplifiers for Highest Sound Quality

The preamp determines sound quality, while the operational amplifier ICs are among the most important components of the preamp. The MG series features new, high-quality, custom-made MG01 operational amplifiers developed in close cooperation with the semiconductor manufacturer. While many other operational amplifiers optimize circuit design and efficiency, which are positive features, Yamaha prioritizes sound quality, so off-the-shelf chips were not an option.

The MG01 operational amplifiers feature redesigned circuits where internal components and wiring are perfectly matched. Of course, very good materials in their purest form, such as high-purity silicon wafers and copper wires, were used, so every single component of the chip contributes to outstanding resolution.

Switchable Phantom Power and PAD Switch

Thanks to switchable phantom power, the MG series consoles allow connection of condenser microphones with all their advantages over dynamic microphones, including extended frequency response, much higher dynamics, and better sound quality. The input channels with PAD switch accept mic and line level signals. The PAD button attenuates high-level input signals, for example, miked instruments during a concert that might otherwise cause overloads, which could seriously damage the mix.

Our Mixer - Your Sound

Do you have a favorite song where the guitar sounds perfect without EQ or the vocals need no processing? Probably not. Yamaha mixers are known for their linear reproduction and sonic purity, but usually, besides perfectly recorded instruments or vocals, a bit more is needed to achieve a truly professional-sounding mix. Many tools originally from Yamaha's hi-end consoles are now found in the MG series. These mixers have everything needed to produce a distinct, professional-quality sound.

One-Button Compressors

Compression plays a key role in almost every studio production or live sound. By skillfully controlling the dynamics of audio signals with a compressor, you can create basslines with more punch, tighter snares, more present vocals, or thicker live guitar walls. However, it can take countless hours to master even simple hardware compressors and fully exploit them. Yamaha's innovative "One-Button" compressors allow optimal adjustment with just a single knob.

EQ and High-Pass Filter

Nothing beats a reliable equalizer when nuanced sound shaping is needed. The MG series benefits here from Yamaha's unparalleled experience in building audio devices. All mono channels feature excellent 3-band EQs for precise sound control. Additional high-pass filters allow removal of unwanted footstep noise and other low-frequency disturbances, making the mix noticeably clearer and cleaner.

AUX / Effect Sends / Groups

The MG series mixers feature AUX sends to expand the sound reinforcement or studio setup. These can be used to add effects, route outputs to external recording devices, or feed a monitoring system. The main mix also has its own send controls. The MG06 / 06X and MG10 / 10XU models have only one stereo main bus. Other models additionally have one or two stereo group buses and corresponding outputs for convenient channel grouping. Switches next to all channel faders allow clear group assignment.

Numerous Input and Output Connections

All models feature high-quality balanced Neutrik XLR connectors on mono channels. Stereo channels also have XLR jacks. Mono inputs are combo jacks accepting both MIC and LINE levels. Two stereo inputs have an XLR and two jack connectors. The XLR accepts MIC level signals, while the jacks are for LINE level. Mono or stereo line signals can be fed (except on the 10-channel model). The function of the other two stereo channels varies by model: on the 20-channel model, the XLR accepts MIC level, while two RCA connectors handle mono or stereo LINE signals.

Models with 16 and 12 channels accept stereo LINE signals via two jack connectors. Each stereo channel also has 2TR RCA jacks as independent inputs for external sources like CD players. The 10-channel model has an additional stereo channel with a pair of jack connectors for LINE signals. On XU models, any signal coming in via USB can be assigned to one of the stereo channels. Besides the main stereo outputs (XLR L/R, jack L/R), MG series mixers have numerous outputs for groups (jack), AUX/FX (jack), monitor (jack L/R), and headphones (stereo jack). The main outputs can be used for monitoring or mastering.

Metal Housing

The MG series was built to last, featuring a solid, powder-coated metal housing of outstanding build quality. The shape optimally supports internal convection cooling, while the power supply is cleanly separated from the analog circuits inside, preventing noise and positively affecting component lifespan. Additionally, forces like pressure or pull on the mixer controls do not directly affect the circuit board or electronic components, as in many other mixers, but are absorbed by the sturdy housing, greatly enhancing reliability and durability.

XLR Connector

The main stereo mix outputs use XLR connectors. These professional plugs lock securely to prevent accidental disconnection and guarantee stable signal transmission even under tough conditions.

USB Audio Interface with 2 Inputs and 2 Outputs in 24-Bit/192 kHz Resolution

MG series mixers feature digital connections, allowing digital material to be played directly and easily through the mixer. USB supports not only PCs but also Apple devices iPhone and iPad (2 and newer with Apple's "Lightning to USB Camera" adapter). The USB protocol uses asynchronous data transfer. Audio data receives highly precise timing from the MG mixer, enabling recordings and playback in excellent quality.

Fits Your Ear, Stays on Your Head - For Those Who Like It Comfortable & Professional!

The KH-238 delivers a full, balanced sound with rich bass and clear highs. It offers plenty of volume yet clean and precise stereo imaging.
Of course, the softly padded, wide headband is length-adjustable. The extension offers 12 steps on each side for optimal fit. For even more comfort, the ear cups are mounted on two-axis pivots. The thick, soft padding of the over-ear cups also provides good external noise isolation.
The integrated volume control on the cable is always at hand, simplifying use with PC or mp3 player. The 3.5 mm stereo jack provides excellent transmission quality, and a 6.3 mm stereo jack adapter is included.
