The BL8 is a boundary microphone with a supercardioid pattern that uses the same capsule as the famous small-diaphragm condenser microphone sE8. Its handcrafted condenser capsule features an ultrathin, gold-plated membrane at 3 microns thickness for outstanding transient response. The BL8 is designed to reproduce low frequencies with stunning accuracy and is perfect for pairing with the V Kick, but can also be used alone without an additional kick drum mic. It’s also compatible with the Kelly Shu Flatz Isolation System, making it ideal for touring applications.
The BL8 uses a transformerless Class-A circuit that delivers plenty of headroom without distortion and low-noise electronics for transparency and clarity. The built-in low-cut filter and optional EQ-shaping switch make it a very versatile microphone, excellent for ambient recordings and detailed room miking, and even suitable for piano capture. Thanks to the switchable attenuation pad, the BL8 prevents high SPL sources from overloading your mixer input.
The BL8 is ruggedly built with a full metal construction, a deformation-resistant grille, and gold-plated XLR contacts to ensure long-term reliability.

The ideal studio kick drum sound often differs from our preferences in a live sound environment. Similar to the award-winning V Kick drum mic, the BL8 offers "Classic" and "Modern" voicings. These options cut and shape the low mids to emphasize transients and punch. In the middle position, the capsule’s neutral frequency response remains, making it perfect for a variety of other applications.

XLR Cable
Only oxygen-free copper is used for the Stage Pro-Line cables. This ensures durable, consistent quality and protects against corrosion. The connectors are hand-soldered and feature strain relief clamps, so the solder joints are free from mechanical stress. A high-density copper shield effectively protects the audio signal from handling noise and electromagnetic interference, such as that generated by power supplies and power cables. This guarantees low conductor capacitance and crystal-clear audio transmission.
