The BL8 is a boundary microphone with a cardioid pattern that uses the same capsule as the famous small-diaphragm condenser microphone sE8. Its handcrafted condenser capsule features an ultra-thin, gold-plated 3-micron diaphragm for outstanding transient response. The BL8 is designed to reproduce low frequencies with stunning accuracy and is perfect for pairing with the V Kick, but can also be used alone without an additional kick drum mic. It’s also compatible with the Kelly Shu Flatz Isolation System, making it ideal for touring applications.
The BL8 employs a transformerless Class-A circuit that delivers plenty of headroom without distortion and low-noise electronics for transparency and clarity. The built-in low-cut filter and optional EQ-shaping switch make it a highly versatile microphone, excellent for ambient recordings and detailed room miking, and even suitable for piano capture. Thanks to the switchable pad, the BL8 prevents high SPL sources from overloading your mixer input.
The BL8 is ruggedly built with an all-metal construction, a deformation-resistant grille, and gold-plated XLR contacts to ensure long-term reliability.

The ideal studio kick drum sound often differs from our preferences in a live sound environment. Similar to the award-winning V Kick drum microphone, the BL8 offers "Classic" and "Modern" voicings. These options sculpt and shape the low mids to emphasize transients and punch. In the middle position, the capsule’s neutral frequency response remains, perfect for a wide range of other applications.
