RØDE M2 - The Live Condenser Microphone!

The elegant, discreetly refined, and high-resolution M2 is primarily designed as a condenser microphone for live vocals where capturing the finest nuances matters. It also excels at miking acoustic instruments.

Besides a consistently musical, subtle presence boost, the M2 adds hardly any coloration, allowing the artist to deliver an extremely honest performance with excellent dynamics: the maximum SPL is 141 dB! So the M2 won’t be intimidated even by loud rock/blues vocals, although depending on style and band setup, a dynamic handheld mic like the M1 or M1-S might be a better choice in those cases.

The M2’s polar pattern and frequency response are perfectly tailored for stage use. If you use monitors, please position them to the side of the microphone or stand. Supercardioid mics like the M2 have a narrow pickup angle, making them generally very feedback-resistant, but unlike cardioids, they have notable rear sensitivity. Therefore, never place a monitor directly in front of the M2; always position it to the side of the stand or performer. As a condenser microphone, the M2 requires 24 V or 48 V phantom power.

Microphone Stand

Thanks to the locking clamp with metal insert in the base, the MS-116 offers stable support. The boom arm also features a locking clamp that securely holds it with minimal effort while protecting the tube. A double rubber washer clamp with metal insert at the joint allows easy adjustment with little force while providing strong clamping power and minimal wear.
