The Pronomic XA-Series Power Amplifiers are designed for uncompromising continuous use in professional sound systems!
The XA series impresses in every aspect. Absolutely dry, crystal-clear, and powerful sound, excellent workmanship, reliable protection circuits, generous cooling system, and high power supply reserves are just some of the qualities that make this amplifier the first choice for demanding musicians as well as for tough touring in professional rental.
All essential protection circuits are naturally integrated:
- The power soft start function prevents overloading the power grid when switching on the amplifier
- The output DC protection constantly checks for DC components at the speaker outputs and switches off the outputs if poor signals occur. This reliably prevents damage to speaker coils caused by excessive DC components
- The integrated "true barely audible clip limiter" reliably prevents amplifier overload. The amplifier already prevents DC components from forming in the circuit.
- The sophisticated thermal monitoring and fan control ensure smooth continuous operation under high loads.
- The "Noise Free On Off" circuit prevents switching noises, e.g., during power outages
- Standard protection circuits such as short-circuit protection are naturally included
- All protection circuits constantly check if the fault still exists and immediately release the outputs again after the fault is resolved
Advanced Power Supply Design
In analog amplifiers, the power supply design is of utmost importance. Therefore, the X-series power supply is uncompromisingly dimensioned:
- The entire power supply design is symmetrical, effectively suppressing RF interference from outside. This is the only way to achieve the excellent signal-to-noise ratio of 103 dB. Even on very large, loud systems, no background noise from the amplifiers is audible.
- The additional input voltage HF filter further eliminates residual ripple in the power supply
- The integrated multi-stage power management reduces power grid load at lower volumes. This ensures safe operation even with poor power supply, e.g., at smaller gigs. This circuit also optimizes heat generation in the amplifier
- The power supply is generously dimensioned to allow absolutely perfect playback on both channels at full power continuously. For example, when operating with powerful subwoofers, the best possible performance is guaranteed.
Maintenance-Friendly and Durable Circuit Design
The meticulously thought-out design ensures smooth operation over many years
- The cooling channels are completely separated from the electronics section, preventing unnecessary dust from being drawn into the circuit. This guarantees reliable cooling even during long operation in extremely dusty environments
- The cooling channels are acoustically optimized to keep the amplifier's self-noise level as low as possible. Naturally, the fans are also controlled by temperature sensors
- All power connections are excellently soldered, wired, and generally overdimensioned. This greatly increases the lifespan of thermally stressed components
- The centrally installed toroidal transformer ensures even weight distribution. It is mounted extremely solidly to suppress transformer vibrations.

I have now bought the second of this series and use it mainly for tops but run with 12 ohms at 500 watts RMS and was very surprised how clearly yet this stage reproduces the sound has really convinced me.

Super sound, simply neutral!
Class workmanship and quality.

Finally, as with the XA-1400, I have to mention the small flaws:
The power connection is via a cable withels very simple strain relief / cable grommet in the housing. Here I expect a more contemporary solution such as a Powercon connection. One thing I can not understand at all, are the different colors of the power LED between XA-1400 and XA-800. It may be only a minor optical disruptive factor, but why is not uniform within a series?
Conclusion: highly recommended for power hungry!
Questions about product
Question by Thomas Leeb on 05.08.2020
Hello,
in the specifications / user manual there is a specification "Frequency Response@Half Pwr" 15Hz - 25kHz. Does this mean, for example, that at 15 Hz only half the power can be output, so for example only 400 watts / 8ohms?
Thanks a lot
Answer by Musikhaus Kirstein:
"Frequency Response@Half Pwr" 15Hz - 25kHz indicates the level at which the frequency response was measured - also called the "-3db point". This has nothing to do with power limiting, but is just the value for the input voltage that was applied during the measurement.
Question by David Madry on 13.05.2020
Hello,
I would be interested to know what is the HE of the power amplifier for 19" rack mounting?
Thank you and best regards,
David
Answer by Musikhaus Kirstein:
There are 2 HE.
