Radial Engineering ProD2 - Passive Stereo DI Box

The ProD2 is a passive 2-channel DI box that lets you connect stereo keyboards or high-output instruments to a PA system or home recording setup without noise or distortion.

The heart of the design is two Eclipse ET-DB2 high-performance transformers. These deliver performance from 20 Hz to 20 kHz with less than 1.5 dB deviation up to 18 kHz and can withstand enormous signal levels without distortion. Unlike active circuits that clip when the signal exceeds the rail voltage, transformers saturate. This creates a pleasant effect that naturally rounds off the tone and acts like a subtle limiter. This is especially beneficial when connecting the ProD2 to digital pianos, samplers, and drum machines that can produce excessive dynamics. Transformers are particularly adept at avoiding hum and buzz caused by ground loops.

ProD2 as Splitter

Use the mono output of your keyboard and patch it into channel 1, then use the THRU on channel 1 to send a split signal to channel 2—and voila! You get two isolated outputs at mic level to send the signal to FOH and monitors!
