Generous Feature Set

The KORG i3 is a richly equipped music workstation with a velocity-sensitive 61-key keyboard in standard size. The touch response can be ideally adapted to your playing style using three different settings. Additionally, there is a fixed velocity option for cases where dynamics play a minor role.

The transpose buttons allow pitch changes of up to two octaves. With the joystick, which moves along the X and Y axes, you can refine the selected sound with pitch bend, vibrato, and other functions during live play. The 2-band EQ (low and high) is located directly on the top panel and allows precise tuning of the output signal to the acoustics of the venue.

All front buttons and controls are logically arranged, and the backlit LCD display shows current settings. The data wheel lets you quickly change the displayed values. The i3 is available in deep black or silver finishes.

The black version also features a rubberized, very robust housing surface, giving the instrument an extremely stylish and elegant look. The perforated end plates on the sides clearly indicate that this is a premium instrument.

A Characterful Sound

The i3 presents a wide range of sounds developed by KORG over the past decades in the arranger and music workstation category. With up to 800 instrument sounds, lovingly created by an experienced team of programmers and musicians, the i3 offers plenty across various genres.

A GM2 sound set for perfect General MIDI compatibility is also included. Additionally, 59 drum kits provide flexibility in the drum department. The i3 offers different options for shaping the sounds of the left and right hands with so-called "Sound Sets" and "Style Performance Sets," which design the tones and parts for accompaniments.

Selecting one of the factory 200 "Sound Sets" allows up to four tones to be triggered simultaneously: three tones layered on the right and one for the left hand (split). The split point can, of course, be easily changed via a simple key combination to suit your preferences.

The sound generation in the i3 Music Workstation is well equipped with 64-voice polyphony. Two stereo effect processors with 173 algorithms each are the icing on the cake of the sound colors. The grand piano button instantly calls up a high-quality grand piano sound, no matter which menu point you are in.

The Perfect Combination

You’re bursting with ideas and have a few hooks ready. The matching groove is already found. Some text snippets are also on hand. With the KORG i3 Music Workstation, you can create brilliant songs from these ingredients in no time.
Choose a "Style Performance Set" so the i3 can take care of the missing parts: drums, bass, percussion, and countless melodic accompaniment parts like groovy horn sections, guitar strummings, a string quartet, or a funky blues organ.

Up to 8 accompaniment parts can be used, providing the basis for your own composition. For each of the 270 styles, 4 matching "Style Performance Sets" are available. These are different tones but all fit the genre of the chosen style.

Assigned buttons allow both the accompaniment and the parts played live to be muted instantly and their volume conveniently adjusted. By the way, the i3 offers more than just standard fare: the accompaniment sounds, grooves, and parts of a "Style Performance Set" can be modified and replaced by other parts.

The melodic accompaniment parts naturally follow the chords played on the keyboard and therefore sound convincing right away. If your hands are already full, you can use the 8 CHORD buttons to trigger the desired chords.

In this workstation, a "style" corresponds to an almost finished song arrangement with matching sounds, parts, and chords. Each style offers 4 variations, a fill, a break, as well as intro and ending phrases. For each "Style Performance Set" (just like the "Sound Sets"), two stereo effect processors are available to fine-tune your productions.

Save and Share

Compose and play while recording. Immediately after recording, you can share your new creation with everyone you want. The KORG i3 Music Workstation offers several ways to capture songs that can even be edited afterward (.MID files).

All settings chosen for a song, such as a preset style, the "Style Performance Sets," the "Sound Set," tempo, effects, etc., can be stored in a set-list memory and recalled anytime. Ten banks with five set-list entries each are available for this.

In normal mode, the i3’s sequencer behaves like a linear 16-track recorder for MIDI data. All tracks can be extensively edited or even completely replaced. Such recordings can finally be exported as MIDI files.

Additionally, the i3 offers a performance recording mode, where all simultaneously played parts are recorded as an audio file and can be exported in WAV format (44.1kHz). The song player can also play audio files in WAV (44.1kHz) and MP3 formats alongside the common MID format.

All Necessary Connections On Board

The KORG i3 Music Workstation offers the corresponding and indispensable connections for every application. The instrument provides two 6.3mm outputs (Left/Mono and Right) for connection to an amplifier, mixer, etc., and a 3.5mm headphone jack (stereo). A 3.5mm audio input is also included. The function of the 6.3mm jack input for an expression pedal or footswitch can be freely defined and stored for each use case.

The MIDI OUT socket transmits MIDI and synchronization commands to other MIDI-capable instruments and devices. There are also two USB ports: the TO-DEVICE port allows saving and loading user data and songs on a USB storage device. The TO-HOST port is intended for connection to a computer.

The i3 can be powered either by the power supply or optionally by batteries, making it an ideal companion for mobile use. The cable of the included power supply can be secured with a hook on the back to prevent it from being unplugged during use.

Huge Music Software Bundle Included

With the i3, you receive a high-quality software bundle. Included is the program "Ozone Elements," which lets you create songs and master them using "AI." With "Skoove," the online piano lessons, you can effectively and enjoyably improve your skills.

Finally, "Reason Lite" is also included. This is a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) that lets you record your own music directly. The package also includes software synths from KORG and other brands.
In other words, the moment you use your synthesizer for the first time, you already have a large selection of professional software tools to take your music to the next level.

Dynamic Studio Headphones

The KH-238 delivers a full, balanced sound with rich bass reproduction and clear highs. It offers plenty of volume yet clean and precise localization in the stereo field. Naturally, the softly padded, wide headband is length-adjustable.

The extension offers 12 steps on each side and can be optimally adjusted. For even more wearing comfort, the ear cups are mounted on two axes. The thick, soft padding of the circumaural cups also provides good external noise isolation.

The volume control integrated into the cable is always at hand, simplifying use with a PC or mp3 player. The 3.5 mm stereo jack plug delivers excellent transmission properties, and an adapter to 6.3 mm jack (stereo) is also included.
