The Technology: Better Than Ever

The pursuit of the best sound requires hard work and the use of cutting-edge technologies. The continuous advances in loudspeaker development benefit the visually and technically revised GLE speakers in particular. Especially noteworthy are the excellent titanium drivers that have been introduced into the current GLE series. Also tried and proven is the alu-mangan high-frequency system with a 25 mm dome, which in the GLE 20 provides finely resolved highs and an impressively detailed sound.

The powerful 154 mm woofer/midrange with a titanium diaphragm proves to be an ideal partner, reproducing low frequencies with punch and precision in an optimally tuned bass-reflex volume. Its light yet extremely rigid cone ensures balanced and neutral midrange reproduction with excellent detail resolution. The woofer/midrange units are equipped with sturdy polycarbonate baskets, powerful magnet drives and the triple-folded wave surrounds of the latest generation — a combination that enables very dynamic playback with minimal distortion. The compact GLE 20 plays up to 40,000 Hertz — supported by an exactly calculated and optimally shaped waveguide that ensures ideal sound dispersion even to the sides of the speakers.

Compactly Built

Harmoniously proportioned as well as neutral and modern in design, the 2-way compact GLE 20 speakers are extremely versatile — whether free-standing on the matching LS 660 stands, on a rack or on a shelf. The baffles are finished in black or white lacquer depending on the version. The compact enclosures are available in "Black Vinyl", "White Vinyl" and the premium "Makassar" finish. The black or white, sonically neutral fabric grilles are attached magnetically to the baffles. The GLE 20 weigh about 4.5 kilograms and measure 29.5 centimeters in height, 17 centimeters in width and 26 centimeters in depth.

Ideally Combined

The universally applicable 2-way compact GLE 20 speakers can be combined with other models from the GLE series to form a powerful and capable multichannel home cinema system. For main speakers, for example, the GLE 70 are suitable, complemented by a GLE 50 center and a pair of GLE 20 as surround speakers. The active low-end role is taken by the perfectly matched POWER SUB 12 subwoofer, which delivers impressively powerful bass in the home cinema. Depending on personal preferences and requirements, a custom multichannel home cinema setup can be assembled from the extensive GLE portfolio — for maximum movie enjoyment at home. When the speaker set is combined with the smart electronics module Smart Amp 5.1, it opens the door to the wireless world of music streaming. This easily replaces a classic AV receiver and impresses with extraordinary connectivity and combination options — with excellent sound and particularly compact dimensions.
