The new MARK FIVE 35, available both as the traditional compact Boogie 1x12 combo and in a 19" head format, delivers a "Greatest Hits" collection of famous Mark Series circuits from three decades.

This custom combo not only brings the legendary tonal diversity of Mesa Boogie’s Mark series — it also makes an individual design statement. The combination of Teal Bronco vinyl (exterior), cream & tan grill cloth, off-white piping (welt), large brown handles and brown corner caps makes this amp a true eye-catcher in the rehearsal room or on stage — and your sound is complemented by premium engineering so you can perform confidently in the studio and live.

Purebred Materials

Following a 35-year tradition of 4xEL84-based power with successful models like the Caliber, Maverick, Nomad and Lone Star, MESA/Boogie is proud to bring the legendary original MARK preamp into the 9-pin power family and introduce the MARK FIVE: 35. This lightweight middleweight is an improved version of the recent hit mini preamp MARK FIVE: 25, and like that model the new 35 performs far above its class.

To make the new MARK FIVE: 35 even more stage-ready, a channel-independent SOLO function, a full-tube reverb, the complete CabClone voicing selection with the additional VINTAGE setting for the built-in DI output, and an improved footswitch for access to the new footswitchable options have been added. This new mix of perfect clip-ability when you need it and exciting, dynamic headroom when you want it creates the most adaptable MARK amp ever!

Multi-Watt Channel-Assignable Power

Thanks to Dyna-Watt technology in the Multi-Watt Channel Assignable Power array, this performance-oriented 35-watt model delivers noticeably more headroom, punch and power, while the two low-power options at 25 and 10 watts provide a looser playing feel and enhanced power-clip expression. Each of the three power settings has its own tonal character and can be used to make your targeted tones more authentic by choosing the mode and preamp settings. The power ranges and circuit types are: 35 watts (Dyna-Watt Power), 25 watts (Dyna-Watt Power) and 10 watts (Class AB Triode).

2 Channels and 6 Modes with Mighty Compact Power

The MARK FIVE: 35, like the MARK FIVE it descends from, is a collection of iconic amplifiers — a living history of MESA/Boogie. Channel 1 covers the entire gain spectrum, from crisp cleans through fuzzy edge-of-clip tones to classic rock crunch and searing, saturated lead tones. Channel 2 delivers the legendary MARK II-C+ and the warmer, rounder MARK IV in full glory, as well as the MARK FIVE’s XTREME mode.

To round out the two-channel preamp with six modes and the lightweight but powerful-sounding power section, the MARK FIVE: 35 is available both as a traditional 19" Boogie-sized head and as a portable 1x12 combo. The head can be set on a range of MESA guitar cabinets, and the combo can be paired with an additional extension to achieve greater coverage.

Mid/Boost

The MARK FIVE: 35’s MID/BOOST lets you further shape Channel 1’s tone: from 0 to 5 on the MID/BOOST control you get the compressed range of a normal mid control. From 5 to 10 a wonderful gradation of overdrive possibilities unfolds, raising gain across a broad mid spectrum and increasing the versatility of each of Channel 1’s three modes. CLEAN and FAT open the way to fuzzy and howling tones, while CRUNCH goes beyond classic rock to unleash metal rhythms and molten layers of harmonic complexity for lead work.

Solo Function

The MARK FIVE: 35 features independent SOLO controls so each channel has its own level for the footswitchable SOLO boost. Unlike other MESA amps, the SOLO on this 35-watt MARK is an alternate MASTER control wired in parallel to the channel MASTER, so it can reach levels above or below the channel MASTER control.

The footswitch includes a "preview" function that shows the status of the channel’s SOLO control you are NOT playing. A dim YELLOW LED above a channel’s SOLO button on the footswitch indicates the SOLO has been recalled and will be active the next time you switch to that channel. At that point the LED on the footswitch lights at full strength and changes color to match the channel LED (green for Channel 1, red for Channel 2), and the SOLO controls the channel volume until you switch it off and return to the channel MASTER.

Headphone Output

The MARK FIVE: 35 provides a HEADPHONE output for private enjoyment of the amp when it’s not possible or convenient to play through a speaker. This jack receives its "speaker-simulated" signal from the built-in CabClone D.I. and transfers the MARK FIVE: 35’s tone and playing feel to your headphones surprisingly well. Use this output for late-night practice — it delivers an authentic, inspiring sound by including your power tubes and the output transformer in the signal path, then frequency-compensating and leveling it via the onboard CabClone D.I. circuitry.

CabClone D.I.

The MARK FIVE: 35 upgrades include an expansion of the integrated CabClone D.I., which now offers three classic "cabinet-simulated" VOICING modes and the full functionality of the standalone CabClone D.I. minus the OUTPUT control. The simulations are an analog representation achieved with passive means (without op-amps for shaping). They were developed based on 45 years of experience working with the world’s best speakers and designing the custom enclosures they live in.

These CabClone "Virtual Cabinet" options let you tailor the direct circuit’s EQ response to different cabinet styles, gain ranges and/or various instruments and pickups. The selection ranges from bright and open with reinforced top-end for buffered clean tones (OPEN BACK), through a more compressed voice with rolled-off upper harmonics for warm, singing single-note tones and thick high-gain rhythm work (VINTAGE), to a scooped mid and boosted curve called CLOSED BACK that’s ideal for heavy crunch rhythms and high-gain lead work.

With these three voicing options on the MARK FIVE: 35 you have a wide palette of responses to choose from when you go direct. How you use them is up to you, and these descriptions are provided only as a starting guideline. No matter how you assign them across your channels for recording needs, you have all the tools to capture great guitar sounds direct.
