The new MARK FIVE 35, available both as a traditional compact Boogie 1x12 combo and in 19" head format, offers a "Greatest Hits" collection of famous Mark Series circuits spanning 3 decades.

Following a 35-year tradition of 4xEL84-based power with successful models like the Caliber, Maverick, Nomad, and Lone Star, MESA/Boogie proudly introduces the legendary and very first MARK preamp into the 9-pin power lineup with the MARK FIVE: 35. This lightweight middleweight is an enhanced version of the recent hit, the mini preamp MARK FIVE: 25, and like it, the new 35 is far beyond its class.

To make the new MARK FIVE: 35 even more stage-ready, a channel-independent SOLO function, a full tube reverb, the complete voicing selection of the CabClone with an additional VINTAGE setting for the built-in DI output, and an improved footswitch for access to new footswitchable options were added. This new blend of perfect clip capability on demand and exciting, dynamic headroom when you need it creates the most versatile MARK amplifier ever!

Multi-Watt Channel Assignable Power

Thanks to Dyna-Watt technology in the Multi-Watt Channel Assignable Power Array, this performance-oriented 35-watt model offers significantly more headroom, punch, and power, while the two low-power options at 25 and 10 watts provide a looser playing feel and enhanced power-clip expression. Each of the 3 power levels has its own tonal character and can be used to make your desired sound styles even more authentic by choosing the mode and preamp settings. The power ranges and circuit types are: 35 Watts (Dyna-Watt Power), 25 Watts (Dyna-Watt Power), and 10 Watts (Class AB Triode).

2 Channels and 6 Modes with Mighty Compact Power

The MARK FIVE: 35, like the MARK FIVE it evolved from, is a collection of iconic amplifiers. It’s a living history of MESA/Boogie! Channel 1 covers the entire gain spectrum, from crisp clean tones through fuzzy edge-of-clip sounds to classic rock crunch and burning, saturated lead tones. Channel 2 offers the legendary MARK II-C+ and the warmer, rounder MARK IV in all its glory, plus the MARK FIVE’s XTREME mode.

Rounding out the two-channel preamp with six modes and the lightweight yet powerful power amp, the MARK FIVE: 35 is available both as a traditional 19" Boogie-sized head and as a portable 1x12 combo. The head can be paired with a range of MESA guitar cabinets, and the combo can be linked with an additional extension to achieve greater coverage.

Mid/Boost

The MID/BOOST function of the MARK FIVE: 35 lets you further shape Channel 1’s tone: From 0 to 5 on the MID/BOOST knob, you find the normal range of a typical mid control in compressed form. From 5 to 10, a wonderful gradation of overdrive possibilities unfolds, raising gain across a broad midrange and enhancing the versatility of each of Channel 1’s 3 modes. CLEAN and FAT clear the way for fuzzy and howling sounds, while CRUNCH goes beyond classic rock to unleash metal rhythms and melted layers of harmonic complexity for lead work.

Solo Function

The MARK FIVE: 35 features independent SOLO controls, giving each channel its own level for the footswitchable SOLO boost function. Unlike other MESA amps, the SOLO function on this 35-watt MARK acts as an alternate MASTER control wired in parallel to the channel MASTER, allowing levels above or below the channel MASTER control.

The footswitch includes a "preview" function that shows the status of the SOLO control for the channel you are NOT playing. A dim YELLOW LED above a channel’s SOLO button on the footswitch indicates the SOLO function has been engaged and is active when you next turn on that channel. At that point, the LED on the footswitch lights fully and changes color to match the channel’s LED color (green for Channel 1, red for Channel 2), and SOLO controls the channel volume until you turn it off and return to using the channel MASTER control.

Headphone Output

The MARK FIVE: 35 includes a HEADPHONE output for personal enjoyment of the amp when playing through a speaker is not possible or convenient. This jack receives its "speaker-simulated" signal from the built-in CabClone D.I. function and surprisingly conveys the sound and feel of the MARK FIVE: 35 to the headphones of your choice. Use this output for late-night practice, as it provides an authentic and inspiring tone by including your power tubes and output transformer in the signal path, then frequency-compensated and level-matched thanks to the integrated CabClone D.I. circuit.

CabClone D.I.

The MARK FIVE: 35 upgrades include an expansion of the built-in CabClone D.I. function, now offering three classic "cabinet simulated" VOICING modes and the full functionality of the standalone CabClone D.I. minus the OUTPUT control. The simulations are an analog representation achieved with passive means (no op-amps for shaping). They were developed based on 45 years of experience working with the world’s best speakers and designing custom enclosures in which they are installed.

These CabClone "Virtual Cabinet" options let you tailor the EQ response of the direct circuit to different cabinet styles, gain ranges, and/or various instruments and pickups. The selection ranges from bright and open with enhanced top-end for buffered clean sounds (OPEN BACK) through a more compressed voice with subdued upper overtones for warm, singing single-note tones and thick high-gain rhythm work (VINTAGE) to a scooped mid and boosted curve called CLOSED BACK, ideal for heavy crunch rhythms and high-gain lead work.

With these three VOICING options on the MARK FIVE: 35, you have a wide range of responses to choose from when going direct. How you use them is up to you, and these descriptions serve only as a guideline to get started.
