The evolution of the five amp characters from previous Katana models, including the iconic Brown high-gain amp, continues this approach consistently. The new Pushed character especially highlights the optimized dynamic processes of the Katana-100 Gen 3. Experience the full dynamic gain structure of a clean combo amp pushed into harmonic saturation. All six amp types also feature selectable variations. This gives you a total of twelve distinct sounds to cover nearly every music style.

Every tube amp fan knows: the louder you turn up the volume, the fuller, richer, and more dynamic the sound becomes. Unfortunately, that volume level isn’t always suitable for every playing situation. External power limiters often come into play but can cause sound artifacts that impair the amp’s tone and response. The Katana Gen 3’s built-in power control combines the best of both worlds: the feel of a fully cranked amp at moderate volume without compromising sound quality. Use the front panel control to seamlessly adjust the level for any playing scenario—from live concerts to bedroom practice.

Renowned Boss Effects

The Katana Gen 3 offers five simultaneously usable effect categories, loaded with a variety of effects from Boss’s long history. With direct-access controls and three variations each, the Booster, Mod, FX, Delay, and Reverb sections deliver optimized sounds and a total of 15 individual effects. The Boss Tone Studio offers even more possibilities, featuring 60 effect types and numerous detailed parameters to precisely tailor the amp’s internal effects to your preferences. Combined with the optional Bluetooth Audio MIDI Dual Adapter and the BTS Editor app, you can even wirelessly control and tweak your sounds during gigs.

Unrivaled Tone Shaping

The Boss Tone Studio software for Katana Gen 3 models has been visually updated and offers new graphical controls to adjust your sound faster and more intuitively. Here you’ll find numerous tools for amp and effect editing, can change effect order, and shape the overall sound with the 3-way contour control plus multiple EQs. Beyond global settings and behaviors, you can create and manage your own gig setups in the software. Additionally, you have access to the Boss Tone Exchange platform, where you can download pro setups and share your sounds with the worldwide Katana community.

Save and Control Your Sounds

The Katana-50 Gen 3 offers multiple ways to control your own sounds. On the four tone setting memory slots, you can save complete amp and effect setups and recall them at the push of a button. You can also connect footswitches and an expression pedal to switch memory slots hands-free and control various parameters you previously set in Boss Tone Studio.

Amplify External Amp Modelers

Besides using it as a standalone amp, the Katana-50 Gen 3 is also perfect as a monitor for external setups, such as a pedalboard routed directly to the PA. Use the Power Amp In input to bypass the Katana’s preamp and use the reactive Class-AB power stage as an amplifier for any amp modeler or external preamp.

Flexible Connectivity

With the Katana-50 Gen 3’s connection options, you’re ready for any playing situation. Plug in headphones for silent stereo practice. Or use the USB-C port to record your playing in your favorite music software on a computer or mobile device. All audio outputs can deliver signals with IR speaker sound, including three Air Feel types and two customizable settings in Boss Tone Studio.
