Every tube amp fan knows: the louder you turn up the volume, the fuller, richer, and more dynamic the sound becomes. Unfortunately, that volume level isn’t always practical. External power attenuators often come into play but can cause sound artifacts that compromise tone and response. The Katana Gen 3’s built-in power control offers the best of both worlds: the feel of a fully cranked amp at moderate volume without sacrificing tone. Use the front panel control to seamlessly adjust the level for any playing situation – from live concerts to bedroom practice.

The Katana Gen 3 offers five simultaneously usable effect categories, loaded with a variety of effects from Boss’s long history. With direct-access controls and three variations each, the Booster, Mod, FX, Delay, and Reverb sections deliver optimized sounds and a total of 15 individual effects. The Boss Tone Studio offers even more possibilities, with 60 effect types and numerous detailed parameters to precisely tailor the amp’s internal effects to your preferences. Paired with the optional Bluetooth Audio MIDI Dual Adapter and BTS Editor app, you can even wirelessly control and tweak your sounds during gigs.

Unrivaled Tone Shaping

The Boss Tone Studio software for Katana Gen 3 models has been visually updated, offering new graphical controls that let you shape your sound faster and more intuitively. Find numerous tools for amp and effect editing, change effect order, and sculpt your overall tone with the 3-way contour control plus multiple EQs. Beyond global settings and behaviors, you can create and manage custom setups for your gigs. Plus, you get access to the Boss Tone Exchange platform, where you can download pro setups and share your sounds with the worldwide Katana community.

Comprehensive Live Control

The Katana-100/212 Gen 3 provides a wealth of powerful tools for modern performers. Eight memory slots let you save and recall complete amp and effect setups. On the rear panel, you’ll find dedicated inputs for external footswitch and expression pedal control. Even more options come with the GA-FC and GA-FC EX foot controllers, letting you fully control your Katana Gen 3 live: switch tone settings, toggle effects on/off, use multiple expression pedals, and more. The GA-FC EX also features an expansion mode for connecting a second GA-FX unit, doubling the number of footswitches or controlling two Katana amps simultaneously.

Expand Your Sound

The Katana-100/212 Gen 3 supports all your creative paths. The Stereo Expand function lets you quickly and easily link two amps. While the main amp controls the master parameters, stereo effects like chorus, delay, and reverb play through both amps for an especially wide and immersive sound. Alternatively, use the Power Amp In jack to bypass the Katana’s preamp and use its reactive Class-AB power amp to drive a modeling amp or external preamp.

Flexible Connectivity

The Katana-100/212 Gen 3’s connections prepare you for any playing situation. Plug in headphones for silent stereo practice. Send a signal via the line out to a PA system. Or use the USB-C port to record your playing in your favorite music software on a computer or mobile device. All audio outputs support IR speaker simulation, including three Air Feel types and two customizable settings in Boss Tone Studio.
