The McCarty Singlecut 594 is carefully specified to offer a familiar playing feel and warm vintage tone. It features a bound Pattern Vintage neck with 22 frets and a 24.594" scale length, a slightly thicker back for more tone and sustain, and 58/15 LT treble and bass pickups that have undergone the TCI process (Tuned Capacitance and Inductance). The 58/15 LT pickups provide exceptional clarity, focused mids, and vintage character. The McCarty Singlecut 594 model is equipped with a two-piece zinc bridge with brass saddles and pins for added resonance and vintage-style tuners.

In the late 1980s, Paul Reed Smith asked Ted McCarty to advise him on guitar design and production techniques. He not only served as a mentor but also became a good friend to Paul and everyone he met at PRS. In 1994, PRS launched the first McCarty, an instrument that incorporated the full range of techniques and knowledge Paul had received from Ted, as well as his own experience as a guitar maker.
