Strata Prime is an electronic drum kit without compromises. Every detail is designed to deliver a responsive and natural playing experience. The mesh heads feature adjustable tension, the 360° cymbals are freely movable and respond like acoustic cymbals, and the hi-hat is laser-precise, playing naturally with any hi-hat stand and technique. Together, they create the expressive feel you expect from a carefully crafted instrument. Under the hood, however, lies a truly cutting-edge sound engine providing an extensive and detailed library of beautifully recorded drum kits.

Drum Pads

Strata Prime includes six drums with mesh heads. Starting with a 14" dual-zone snare drum with independent sounds triggered by the head, rim click, and rim shot, followed by 8", 10", 12", and 14" toms, and of course a 20" kick drum offering a comfortable playing surface suitable for all types of single and double kick pedals. The tension of all six mesh heads can be adjusted so you can fine-tune rebound and expression exactly to your liking. Unnatural “hotspots” on the heads are prevented by Alesis’ unique patented anti-hotspot sensor design.

Cymbal Pads

The Strata Prime ARC cymbals are extremely sensitive and feature a beautifully spun surface. All three cymbals—the 18" ride and two 16" crashes—are triple-zone, meaning they trigger different sounds on the bell, bow, and edge of each cymbal. They are all 360° playable, so you can strike anywhere on the cymbal, and they mount on standard cymbal stands, allowing natural, unrestricted response and vibration. The crash and ride cymbals as well as the hi-hats have dual-edge sensors and profiles that enable incredible expressiveness without requiring you to adjust your technique.

HiHat

The 14" hi-hat is the world’s first active magnetic controller mounted on the stand. Like the cymbals, it features a triple-zone 360° playing surface that is highly sensitive. The magnetic position sensing ensures pedal movements are translated with exceptionally high resolution; this means the contactless controller is unmatched in accuracy. The unit works with a wide range of hi-hat stands and playing techniques. The active technology is powered directly by the Prime drum module; no additional power adapter is needed.

Hardware

The backbone of the Strata Prime is a double-braced rack on which the toms, cymbals, and module are mounted. It’s extremely sturdy yet flexible, allowing for a spacious or more compact setup so you can tailor the kit to your ideal playing position. The kit is designed to be compatible with standard drum hardware, so you can use the pedals you’re accustomed to playing. The hi-hat controller works with any standard hi-hat stand; the kick drum can be used with any single or double kick pedal, and all cymbals can also be mounted on conventional cymbal stands (for optional additional cymbals).

Module

The Prime drum module is undoubtedly the most technologically advanced drum module ever made. The sound experience is powered by the legendary BFD drum engine and controlled via a 10.1" touchscreen that allows intuitive navigation, editing, and mixing of kits—delivering studio-level sound previously only possible on powerful desktop computers.

Through the touchscreen, every parameter is at your fingertips, enabling effortless access and adjustment of every component of the kit, sounds, effects, and utilities. Additionally, there are six rotary knobs for quick scrolling and detailed control, plus a main push encoder, transport controls, and dedicated volume controls for main, phones, and aux outputs.

Under the hood is a powerful multi-core processor that loads huge, multi-sampled kits in seconds and gives you instant creative freedom to customize your kits, articulations, microphones, and effects. The brand-new trigger engine is customizable. Although Strata Prime is excellent right out of the box, several tools let you tailor the kit to your specific preferences, including instant crosstalk calibration.
