The center of the handpan is the root note E3. Arranged in a circle around it are the twelve additional tones B3, D4, E4, F#4, G4, A4, B4, D5, E5, F#5, G5 and A5. Additionally, the SE-319 provides seven bottom notes: C3, D3, F#3, G3, A3, C4 and C5. These significantly extend the instrument's range and create extra possibilities for complex chords, polyphonic melodies and varied musical arrangements.
