The Meinl Sonic Energy Octave Steel Tongue Drum OSTD4DGE in a dark green finish and F# minor tuning was designed for relaxed, intuitive, and sonically balanced musical experiences. With its handpan-like tonal aesthetic, alternative tuning to A4/a' 432 Hz and its well-thought-out tone layout, it’s ideal for meditation, yoga, sound therapy, or free-form playing.

Balanced Tone Layout Across Two Octaves

At the center of the tongue drum sits a sustaining bass tone that forms the sonic foundation. Around it are eight additional tone fields, each made up of two precisely laser-cut tongues. This design lets each note sound in two octaves. The result is a particularly full, floating tone with long sustain.

The F# minor scale—A3, B3, C#4, D4, E4, F#4, G#4, and A4—allows intuitive playing without dissonant tones.

High-Quality Stainless Steel With Decorative Details

Made from coated stainless steel, the Octave Steel Tongue Drum impresses with high stability, durability, and consistent tonal properties. The decorative nylon cord gives the instrument a premium look.

Slight discolorations from the laser engraving may occur due to the material and do not constitute a defect. They affect neither sound nor function and emphasize the individual character of each drum.

Variable Sound Projection and Secure Stance

On the underside is a sound hole that can be sealed with a silicone plug. Played open, it produces a wide, resonant sound, while closing it makes the tone more compact and focused. Three non-slip silicone feet ensure a stable stance on smooth surfaces and prevent sliding during play.

Flexible to Play and Comfortable to Transport

The tongue drum can be played either with the included wooden mallets with soft covers or directly with the fingers. It sits comfortably on the lap or a flat surface and is ready to play immediately. For safe transport, a robust nylon bag with a zipper and carry handle is included to protect the instrument reliably.
