East Beast and West Pest – two approaches to semi-modular synthesis

East Beast and West Pest represent two different approaches to synthesis. East Beast follows the classic East Coast tradition and works as a monophonic subtractive synthesizer with an analogue oscillator, multimode filter, envelope, VCA and LFO. An integrated sequencer, arpeggiator, MIDI control and numerous Eurorack-compatible patch points support both direct access and deeper intervention in the signal path.

West Pest takes a West Coast-oriented approach instead. Alongside an analogue oscillator, it provides wavefolding and a Dynamics Controller for shaping the sound. This makes it possible to create harmonically rich, percussive and experimental sound structures. West Pest also offers a sequencer, arpeggiator, MIDI and Eurorack-compatible patch points. The analogue oscillators and other circuit concepts in both models were developed in collaboration with Pittsburgh Modular Synthesizers. Both synthesizers can also be removed from their desktop enclosures and integrated into a Eurorack system as 40 HP modules.

NiftyCASE and NiftyKEYZ for custom Eurorack systems

With NiftyCASE, Cre8audio offers a compact 84 HP enclosure for Eurorack modules. Power supply and MIDI-to-CV are already integrated. MIDI can be converted via USB or 5-pin DIN into CV, Gate, modulation and clock signals. This makes NiftyCASE especially useful for musicians building their first modular system who do not want to plan separate power and MIDI modules from the beginning.

NiftyKEYZ combines a 112 HP Eurorack case with a 49-key synth-action keyboard including aftertouch. Four CV/Gate pairs can be assigned to different keyboard zones and used monophonically or polyphonically. Additional features include an arpeggiator, Auto Chord, transpose functions, LFO, clock functions and outputs for velocity, aftertouch and other performance data. This allows a custom Eurorack system to be expanded into a directly playable keyboard instrument.

NiftyBUNDLE and Eurorack modules for getting started with modular

NiftyBUNDLE combines NiftyCASE with the Chipz and Cellz modules plus patch cables, providing a largely complete starting point for first modular patches. Chipz serves as a sound source, while Cellz is a programmable CV touch controller that can be used for control and sequencing tasks.

For further expansion, Cre8audio offers modules with different functions. Function Junction combines modulation and control tasks, while Captn Big-O and Mr. Phil Ter were developed in collaboration with Pittsburgh Modular Synthesizers. This allows an existing system to be expanded selectively with additional sound generation, filtering and modulation options.

Programm, Boom Chick and Assembler for electronic setups

With Programm, Cre8audio expands its range with a standalone performance sequencer for MIDI and CV. It offers multiple sequencer tracks, step and live input, generative functions and randomisation, and can control both conventional MIDI devices and Eurorack synthesizers. This makes it suitable as a central control unit for hybrid setups combining modular systems, desktop synthesizers and other MIDI instruments.

Boom Chick complements such setups as an analogue drum machine with five drum voices and an extensive 64-step sequencer. Trigger inputs, individual outputs, MIDI and analogue clock connections allow integration into modular and conventional production environments. Assembler is an analogue audio mixer designed for synthesizer and electronic music setups and adds a central mixing and routing component to Cre8audio systems.
