Alhambra guitars – Spanish guitar making since 1965
Alhambras history dates back to the early 1960s. Francisco Martínez Clavel, together with Ricardo Llorens and José María Vilaplana, developed the idea for a classical Spanish guitar in Muro de Alcoy. This led to the founding of Manufacturas Alhambra in 1965. The guitars are still made in Muro de Alcoy in Alicante today. According to the manufacturer, more than 100 specialised craftspeople are involved in production, combining traditional processes with modern manufacturing techniques.
Classical nylon-string guitars form the heart of the range. Alhambra caters to different playing levels, from a first instrument for lessons and music school through models for advanced players to concert and professional guitars. If you are looking for a classical guitar, Kirstein offers a selection of instruments for different playing levels and requirements.
Alhambra classical guitars for beginners and advanced players
For beginners, models such as Z-Nature, 1C, 2C and 3C are important reference points within the Alhambra range. They are aimed at players looking for a Spanish-made nylon-string guitar for lessons, practice and developing their classical playing technique. Classical guitars for adults from different manufacturers also make it easier to compare suitable instruments.
For more advanced players, Alhambra expands its range with models such as the 4P, 5P and 6 Olive as well as various models from the 7 series. These are followed by concert and professional models. This gives the brand a clear progression from student and study instruments to sophisticated concert guitars. When choosing a guitar, it is worth considering not only your budget but also the scale length, nut width, soundboard wood, body materials and your preferred playing feel.
Flamenco, CrossOver and electro-acoustic Alhambra guitars
Alongside classical guitars, flamenco guitars are an integral part of Alhambras Spanish identity. The range includes models for different playing levels as well as cutaway and electro-acoustic versions. If you perform on stage or frequently play in the upper registers, models with a cutaway and pickup system are particularly worth considering.
Alhambras CrossOver guitars offer a distinctive alternative. Models such as the CS-LR, CS-1 and CS-3 combine nylon strings with a playing feel that is closer to steel-string acoustic and electric guitars. A narrower neck and more rounded fingerboard can make the transition to a nylon-string guitar easier, particularly for players who have previously played mainly steel-string acoustic or electric guitar.
Which Alhambra guitar is right for me?
For beginners and regular lessons, the Z-Nature and models from the 1C, 2C and 3C families provide a useful starting point. Players with more experience who are looking to take the next step in terms of sound, materials and workmanship can explore the models positioned above them. Smaller sizes are also available for younger players or smaller hands. Complete guitar sets can be a practical option if you also need accessories to get started.
The right accessories are also part of using a nylon-string guitar over the long term. Bags and cases for classical guitars provide suitable options for transport and storage. Classical guitar strings in different tensions and materials also allow you to tailor response and playing feel to your personal preferences.
