A Compact Piano With The Sound And Features That Meet Advanced Players' Needs!
Yamaha's P-series digital pianos are highly valued by pianists around the world who want the comfortable touch of an acoustic piano in an instrument with compact size and weight.
Compared with the previous model, the P-225 is significantly shorter and shallower and features a compact design. It looks elegant from every angle and enhances any room. For the space-saving cabinet we developed the new 88-key GHC keyboard (Graded Hammer Compact), built to precise standards. It delivers the same weighted, piano-like touch as the GHS keyboard (Graded Hammer Standard) used in earlier P-series models.
The P-225 features the sound of Yamaha's flagship concert grand, the CFX. It uses Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM) Lite technology to reproduce the expressive, nuanced tonal changes of a real grand. Whether you're an advanced pianist or an eager beginner who wants to learn, the P-225 is the perfect choice.
The Newly Developed GHC (Graded Hammer Compact) Keyboard Delivers An Extremely Realistic Touch
One of the main concerns for pianists when buying a digital piano is the feel of the keyboard.
Pianists pay attention to whether they can feel the counterweight of the keys like on an acoustic action, whether the keyboard responds accurately during faster passages, whether there are discrepancies between how hard you strike a key and the resulting tone, and whether the keyboard offers an appropriate dynamic range from soft to loud.
The GHS keyboard previously used in the P series was praised by customers for its excellent balance and playable feel.
The newly developed, more compact GHC keyboard in the new P series matches the playing comfort of its predecessors. In addition, the keyboard is more compact than on earlier models while still delivering outstanding playability.

The Sound Of Yamaha's High-End Concert Grand, The CFX
This P-225 model delivers the sound of Yamaha's top-tier CFX concert grand, with brilliant highs and powerful lows. It is equipped with Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM) Lite technology, which realistically reproduces the complex resonances created by a grand's strings and changes them depending on each key strike. With the P-225 you enjoy the sound of a concert grand played and loved by famous pianists, along with its endlessly realistic resonances. Of course, this instrument does not require tuning. The CFX traces its roots to Yamaha's full-size CFIIIS concert grand, the origin of Yamaha's premier concert grand.
Place The Instrument Wherever You Want, Or Simply Take It With You.
One frustration for pianists is that a traditional piano is often too large for many rooms, and players can't easily take their instrument with them. The P-225 solves these problems. Its stylish design fits beautifully into any space and is available in either black or white. With the optional soft case you can take the instrument to the studio, to live gigs or on the road whenever you need it.

24 Voices
The P-225 offers 24 voices. In addition to several grand piano tones, including Yamaha's premium CFX concert grand, you can choose from a wide selection of useful tones for keyboard players, such as Stage E. Piano, DX E. Piano, jazz organ, strings and more. The P-225 also includes E. clavichord and vibraphone tones.
Preset Songs
The P-225 comes with 71 built-in songs, including 21 demo songs suitable for a variety of voices such as grand piano, electric piano, various organs, harpsichord (including jazz organ), E. clavichord, vibraphone and more. We recommend listening to these demo songs, which cover a wide range of styles from simple classical pieces and baroque works to R&B, pop and beyond, to get an idea of the musical possibilities the P-225 offers.
Whenever And As Often As You Want
One of the biggest advantages of a digital piano is that you can practice undisturbed and hear yourself only through headphones. At the same time, family members or neighbors won’t be disturbed by volume.
Recording, Metronome And Rhythm Functions For More Fun And Efficient Practice
If you want to listen back to your playing objectively or practice the right hand separately from the left, the recording function is ideal. We also recommend using the metronome if you want to practice with a steady tempo. If you don't want to play alone, rhythm accompaniment in styles like rock, pop, jazz and bossa nova is available. This is also a great way to learn the rhythms of different styles.
20 Rhythms
If you want to listen back to your playing objectively or practice the right hand together with the left, the recording function is perfect. We also recommend using the metronome if you want to practice with a fixed tempo. If you don't want to perform alone, rhythm accompaniment in styles such as rock, pop, jazz and bossa nova is available. This is also a good way to learn the rhythmic feel of different styles.
Play Music Through The Internal Speakers With Bluetooth® Audio
The P-225 has built-in Bluetooth® audio functionality so you can pair the instrument with your Bluetooth®-enabled smartphone or tablet and hear your favorite music through the instrument's speakers. You can play along on the instrument at the same time. No external adapter is required.
Sound Boost Function To Enhance The Instrument's Sound
Have you ever felt in rehearsal that your sound was being masked by other instruments and disappeared in the mix? Don’t worry — the P-225 includes a Sound Boost function that switches to a punchy, powerful sound in those situations. The P-225 offers new ways to enhance the instrument's sound during performance and recording while audio is played back on your smart device. Use these functions when recording with Yamaha's Smart Pianist app or via Rec'n'Share.
The Stereophonic Optimizer
With the Stereophonic Optimizer you can enjoy the sound as if you were sitting in front of an acoustic piano when using headphones. Thanks to the Stereophonic Optimizer the sampled sounds of the acoustic piano appear to come directly from the instrument's body. This creates a pleasant, natural listening experience and eliminates the unwanted effects of headphones.

Easy Access To The Instrument's Functions Via The App
When you connect the P-225 to the Yamaha Smart Pianist app, you can control all functions intuitively via your smart device's screen. There's no need to flip through the manual to see how different operations work.
*If you connect your smart device to the instrument to use the app, you can either use a cable or make a wireless connection with the Yamaha UD-BT01 (sold separately; iOS only).
Minimalist Design Inspired By A Grand
The P-225's design is a tribute to the classic aesthetic of a grand piano. It blends harmoniously with any home's decor and is designed to give the player the feeling of playing a grand.

A User Interface That Is Easy For Everyone To Operate
This model uses physical buttons instead of a touch panel so the most important functions are easy for anyone to operate. Apart from the piano tones we selected only the most commonly used voices, including tones for keyboard instruments such as electric piano and harpsichord as well as strings.

Two-Way Speaker System For A Room-Filling Sound
The position and angle of the P-225's speakers were placed to reproduce as precisely as possible the sound reflected by the soundboard and lid of an acoustic grand. This placement gives the player a pleasant sonic impression when the P-225 is placed in front of a wall. The instrument is also equipped with Tone Escapement technology to make the sound clearer and more audible, offering the player the best acoustic balance. In addition to speakers that deliver brilliant, clear tones in the mid and high ranges and pronounced bass, the P-225 also includes tweeters that produce excellent high-frequency sound.

Practice With The 303 Classical Pieces
The Smart Pianist app mentioned above contains PDF scores of 303 classical pieces for practice by authors such as Bayer, Burgmüller, Czerny, Hanon and more, which you can view and use on your smart device's screen.

A Sound Image That Remains Clear And Distinct Across The Frequency Range Even At Low Volume.
Have you ever turned the volume down because you didn't want to disturb others and then found the sound unbalanced and less enjoyable to play? The P series includes Intelligent Acoustic Control (IAC), which automatically adjusts sound quality to your volume settings. This technology makes it easier to hear tonal detail by slightly boosting treble and bass to match the characteristics of the human ear, which typically struggles to distinguish higher and lower ranges at low volumes. The new P-225 now offers this function even when using headphones. That helps protect your ears and lets you play comfortably even during long headphone practice sessions.

Record Videos And Music Easily And Publish Them Online
If you want to record a video of your performance and share it on platforms like YouTube or TikTok, Rec'n'Share is the right solution. Connect the P-225 to your smart device and record video with audio simultaneously to complete your video. (*A cable connection is required. Be sure to purchase the correct cable for your smart device.)

Special Bag For Transport
If you want to take your piano on trips, to live performances or to work, a specially made bag (SC-KB851) is available as an optional accessory. This bag protects your instrument during transport.

1. it should be a little easier to use (the P-145 probably has more functions accessible only by keyboard),
2. the bass reproduction of the built-in speakers is said to be slightly better,
3. it has a line out (and 2 headphone outputs) which is useful if it is connected to a stereo system, for example,
4. it can play 192 instead of 64 tones simultaneously (polyphony),
5. it is available in white (fits better with our interior),
6. it probably has a wider music rest,
7. it has a few other extras such as slightly better sound processing, more sounds, split function, ...
I decided against products from other manufacturers because either the price-performance ratio was worse (Kawai / Roland) or because the quality seemed worse to me (Casio).
My expectations were fully met. I am very satisfied with the instrument. I have since purchased the stand and the pedal unit. I am also very satisfied with these.
