5 strings and resonator

The BB-5 is a classic 5-string banjo as used by most players. While open guitar tuners do their job at the top, there is a banjo tuner for the 5th string at the 5th fret. A special highlight in this price range is the resonator at the back. This directs the resulting sound forward, which means a more assertive sound. However, since this banjo does not have a tone ring, it generally does not develop a very high volume - so it is ideal for practicing at home.

Tuning

The 5-string banjo is mainly used in bluegrass music to perform a variety of rhythmic and harmonic tasks. It is usually played in the so-called "Scruggs" style: here the strings are plucked with the thumb and middle finger. Fingerpicks can be used to increase the volume if necessary. The common 5-string banjo tunings are gDGCD (modal) and gCGCD (double C), although in bluegrass the open tuning gDGHD is mostly used.

Ideal for beginners

The good workmanship and low price makes this banjo ideal for beginners, but of course also for guitarists who are looking for new worlds of sound. The sound, workmanship and playability are really incredibly good for a banjo in this price range.

Original Remo skin

The 11" large shell is equipped with a roughened banjo skin from Remo. This gives it a much better sound quality than most other instruments in this price range.
