Boss VE-500 - Powerful Vocal Tools for Your Pedalboard!
Are you a typical guitarist? Then you probably spend a lot of time searching for the perfect amps and pedals to get closer to your unique dream sound. If you also sing in your band, you know the dilemma: often, you don’t give your vocal sound the same attention... until now. The new VE-500 Vocal Performer gives you everything you need to create impressive vocal harmonies on stage and enhance your voice with effects – all packed into a sleek stompbox that integrates seamlessly into your guitar pedalboard.
The VE-500 combines professional sound quality and plenty of BOSS DSP power, offering sophisticated harmony and pitch correction functions that automatically adapt to the chords you play on your guitar. It also features a powerful vocoder, essential tone-shaping tools including world-class reverb, delay, modulation effects, and special effects like distortion, filters, and more. Thanks to the built-in program memory, you can save your favorite setups and recall them quickly and easily for specific songs or styles. With its top-notch vocal effects, the VE-500 is the perfect addition to the pedalboards of singing guitarists.
The Most Important Vocal Tools – Right on Your Pedalboard
The VE-500 is a professional vocal toolbox with deep sound-shaping capabilities, letting you sculpt your voice any way you want – from subtle smoothing to dramatic over-the-top effects heard in countless current productions. Plus, you can enhance your live vocals in real time with the improved harmony and pitch processor, adding harmonies and other effects.
The VE-500 comes in a stompbox format and fits easily into any pedalboard. Connect your guitar to the instrument input to control harmony, pitch, and vocoder functions. Meanwhile, you can send the unprocessed guitar signal through the Thru output to your other pedals. At the same time, the processed vocals can be sent via the VE-500’s stereo XLR outputs directly to a PA mixer, stage monitor, or recording device.
Automatic, Multi-Voice Vocal Harmonies Controlled by Your Guitar or via MIDI
Looking for great backing singers for your band? The VE-500 is the perfect solution to enrich your songs with simple or complex vocal harmonies that immediately catch the ear. The automatic harmony engine is powered by the latest BOSS processor technology and detects the chords and keys you play on your guitar to generate two- or three-part harmonies that accompany your vocals in real time.
With the VE-500’s various harmony modes, you can flexibly adjust the generated harmonies according to song requirements and key structure. Additionally, the harmony engine can be controlled via MIDI (through the VE-500’s MIDI or USB input) to create perfect live harmonies using a MIDI keyboard or DAW backing tracks.
Impressive Vocal Effects
The VE-500 offers an enormous variety of effects and parameters to create almost any desired vocal sound. Flexible effect routing options allow you to process solo and harmony vocals together or separately. Use the Enhance section to shape your vocals with essential effects like compressor, de-esser, and EQ. Then continue with the two dedicated reverb/delay sections to refine your sound with subtle coloring or transport it into lush ambient spheres.
Furthermore, you have four independent FX engines at your disposal, each with a wide range of effect types. Spice up your vocals with chorus, flanger, or tremolo, add a second reverb or complementary delay, or push all (sound) boundaries and experiment with distortion, radio effect, ring modulation, slicer, filter, and more.
Built-In Vocoder for Creative Vocals
Featuring the powerful vocoder from the BOSS VO-1 vocoder pedal, the VE-500 offers another killer feature for unique vocal sounds. By speaking or singing into a connected microphone while playing guitar, you can modulate your guitar sound with your voice. This way, you create countless new tonal colors that perfectly match modern styles. Additionally, classic talkbox sounds with their legendary "talking lead" guitar tones are available without needing a separate talkbox with tube and mouthpiece.
Automatic Pitch Correction for Pitch-Perfect Vocals and Special Effects
The VE-500 includes dedicated pitch correction that, like the harmony function, can be controlled via the guitar or MIDI input. This means even inexperienced singers benefit from transparent voice stabilization to enrich their band’s overall sound with lead or backing vocals. For modern hit sounds, you can switch to alternative modes with strong effect processing. Here, noticeable pitch shifts, electronic tonal colors, and even robot sounds await your vocals.
Comprehensive Performance Control
Using the large display and the VE-500’s knobs and buttons, you can quickly and easily edit and recall sounds. Once you find the perfect setup, 99 user patches are available for saving and can be used live anytime. Additionally, the separately available editor/library software lets you edit sounds and manage patches on your Mac or Windows computer.
The three knobs on the control surface can be assigned to parameter favorites for quick and easy sound tweaking on stage. Plus, the three built-in footswitches provide access to numerous functions, including patch selection, toggling individual effects, harmony and looper functions, and more. External footswitches, an expression pedal, and the MIDI input offer even more control options.
