I have been looking for the "almost perfect" reverb for a long time and have tried quite a lot: TC Electronic, Neunaber, Empress, and many more. Sound-wise, everything was very good to phenomenal, but somehow I could not make friends with the devices.
The three reverbs from Strymon (BigSky, BlueSky, Flint) I had largely ignored, because they were either too big and complicated or somewhat outdated and limited in terms of features compared to the devices of other manufacturers.
But then Strymon brought the V2 of the "small" devices on the market. In my opinion, these have received good and very useful hardware and software updates. Between the BlueSky and the Flint I decided in the end for the Flint, for the simple reason that I use 99% Spring and Plate Reverb, "Ambient Reverb" with modulation or shimmer almost never, and because the Flint also brings a brilliant tremolo.
The Flint got the least updates - if one would criticize something it would be the fact that it, in contrast to all other V2 devices, did not get a sixth potentiometer (e.g. for the adjustment of the predelay that would have been great) - but everything else like the JFET input, the stereo switch, predelay as a secondary function (was not adjustable in V1) and especially presets and MIDI make it definitely an extremely usable and flexible device.
Saving tip: the V1 Flint sounds just as high quality as the V2, just has an older hardware and a few features less. But if you don't need presets or MIDI, you'll be very happy with the V1 for 80€ to 90€ less.
