Discover the Ultimate Analog Delay!
Classic sound and modern power – the DM-101 Delay Machine is the ultimate analog delay. Powered by eight bucket brigade device (BBD) memories and controlled by a powerful processor, the DM-101 offers twelve delay modes, true stereo operation, and a wide range of tonal colors based on fully analog signal processing. With 127 user memory slots, tap tempo, carryover, MIDI, and more, the DM-101 combines the versatility of a modern digital delay with the lively, characterful sound of an analog bucket brigade delay.
Analog Delay for the 21st Century
In the 1970s, analog delays based on BBD microchips (bucket brigade devices) were developed as compact and cost-effective alternatives to the tape delays common at the time. With their warm, saturated, and highly musical sound, they established a distinctive delay style still cherished by countless musicians and sound engineers today. The DM-101 expands this classic effect with modern processor control, offering musicians a host of new possibilities.

BOSS Innovation - Performance on a New Level
The DM-101 takes analog delay to unprecedented heights, enabling not only traditional tones but also clean sounds and exceptionally long delay times. To achieve this versatility, we installed eight 2048-stage bucket brigade devices instead of the usual 4096-stage BBD. By precisely controlling the behavior of these smaller BBDs via a processor, we achieve a significantly broader tonal spectrum while preserving the desired analog characteristics that musicians love in their cherished bucket brigade pedals.
Sounds – From Vintage to Modern
The DM-101 effortlessly and seamlessly moves between gritty vintage echoes and modern analog delay sounds with extended high-frequency range. Various internal circuit elements are available for switching between the twelve modes. Depending on the selected mode, the number and wiring of active BBDs, low-pass filter settings, and clock rates are adjusted. The Variation control simultaneously manages multiple parameters tailored to each mode. Additionally, you can drive the delays into self-oscillation and saturation anytime using the Intensity control.

Stereo Delays with True Analog Warmth
Thanks to the DM-101’s processor control, sophisticated stereo sounds can be realized that are not possible with other analog bucket brigade delays. For example, the Pan mode routes each BBD and its feedback loop to shifting positions in the stereo field, while the Dual mode changes the modulation phase for each output to create a large, spacious delay effect. Six of the twelve modes support stereo operation, covering the full spectrum from short, reverb-like sounds to expansive, modulated delays and pattern delays for pronounced rhythmic effects.
Complete Creative Control
The DM-101 offers all the creative advantages of a modern delay pedal. Most modes feature tap tempo and note subdivisions. The carryover function ensures clean decays when the effect is bypassed. You can save your favorite setups on four integrated memory slots and recall them quickly when needed. For extended real-time control, up to two footswitches or an expression pedal can be connected. Via MIDI I/O, the DM-101 provides access to 127 user memory slots, MIDI sync, and more. The audio outputs are factory-configured for mix mode but can be quickly and easily adjusted for use in wet/dry rigs and parallel wet-only setups.

DM-101 Delay Modes
- Classic: Traditional warm analog delay sound with up to 1200 ms delay time. The Variation control lets you switch between triangle, sine, and more complex waveforms to adjust modulation behavior.
- Vintage: Analog retro delay sound inspired by the legendary BOSS DM-2 delay pedal from 1981. The Variation control lets you switch between triangle, sine, and more complex waveforms to adjust modulation behavior.
- Modern: Uniquely transparent analog delay sound with characteristic bright tone and up to 840 ms delay time. The Variation control lets you switch between triangle, sine, and more complex waveforms to adjust modulation behavior.
- Multi-Head: Emulation of a tape delay with multiple playback heads and a unique analog bucket brigade sound character. The Variation control lets you choose between ten different head combinations.
- Non-Linear: A unique effect that produces short successive delays (35-190 ms) that gradually increase in volume. The Variation control adjusts the delay times following the original delay.
- Ambience: Simulates a small room. The Variation control adjusts room size and early reflections.
- Reflect: A stereo delay sound that creates a reverb-like effect. The Variation control adjusts the pre-delay.
- Doubling+Delay: A stereo effect combining a doubled sound with a longer delay. The Variation control adjusts the balance of the two sounds at the stereo output.
- Wide: A stereo delay with offset delay settings left/right for a wide sound. The Variation control sets the offset delay value.
- Dual Mod: A stereo delay with different modulation phase settings for left and right outputs. The Variation control adjusts the phase amount (fully inverted at maximum setting).
- Pan: A stereo tap delay with different delay times for distribution in the stereo field. The Variation control lets you balance the individual delays.
- Pattern: Stereo delay with various rhythmic patterns. The Variation control lets you select from ten available pattern types.
