With the DD-500, you can create any delay sound you can imagine. Everything you need is built in. From warm or dirty vintage delays, tape echoes, to modern delay lines with pitch-shifting, filters, or other unique signal processing. The built-in controls make it easy to tweak essential parameters and craft great sounds in no time. Each delay type also includes a semi-parametric 4-band EQ, modulation, ducking, and many other parameters that let you dive deep into the nuances of your sound. Maximum precision for your tone.

Unmatched Sound Quality

Every single delay program in the DD-500 has been carefully crafted. To ensure outstanding sonic aesthetics and clear musical results in every setting, the high-performance DSP operates at 32-bit/96 kHz. While the DD-500’s delay effects work on an absolute "high-end" digital level, the actual guitar sound remains 100-percent analog. You decide whether the signal runs in "buffered mode" or "true bypass". To strengthen the analog dry signal, a "buffered bypass" has been added. This also ensures that delay and echo tails don’t get unnaturally cut off when you switch the effect off.

In the world of sophisticated delay stompboxes, the DD-500 is absolutely unique in ease of use: The large LCD display fully supports the pedal’s immense capabilities. Clear visibility of delay time, patch ID, and intuitive navigation for detailed parameter settings, names, and system management. The USB port quickly connects to your computer for complete patch backup or MIDI controller exchange with your DAW of choice.

Intense Real-Time Control

With freely assignable knobs, the DD-500 delivers unprecedented creative possibilities and flexibility. Factory default settings give the A, B, and TAP/CTL switches intuitive control over 2 patches, bypass, bank selection, tap tempo, and more. However, the switches can be customized to perform other operations as you wish. Instantly select 3 different delay patches or activate 2 delays simultaneously to create layered sounds. Instead of tap tempo, the TAP/CTL switch can be assigned other real-time functions like Warp or Twist. A wide range of expressive effects is possible. Additional parameters can be controlled via optional expression pedals and external switches. MIDI IN & OUT open further control options for large and modern guitar setups.

DD-500 Delay Modes

• Standard - Clear digital delay.
• Analog - Emulates a classic analog "BBD" delay bucket brigade device (e.g. BOSS DM series).
• Tape - Emulates the warm sound of a tape echo unit, like the Maestro Echoplex and the legendary Roland RE-201 Space Echo.
• Vintage Digital - Emulation of early digital delays from the 80s, like Roland’s famous SDE-2000 and SDE-3000 (19" units) and BOSS DD-2, the original stompbox digital delay.
• Dual - Two different delay lines can be connected in series or parallel.
• Pattern - 16 different delay lines create separately adjustable rhythmic effects.
• Reverse - Backwards delay for cool psychedelic effects and other wild sounds.
• SFX - "Special Effects" delay with a very unique sound character.
• Shimmer - "Pitch-shift delays" for rich, heavenly textures.
• Filter - Delay with a sweeping filter.
• Slow Attack - Wide delays that increase with picking dynamics.
• Tera Echo - Animated ambient effect derived from the innovative BOSS TE-2 pedal.

DD-500 Assignable Control Functions

The following functions can be assigned to the TAP/CTL switches and/or optional external footswitches. These settings are saved in the patch.

• Tap - Sets the delay time to the song tempo.
• Hold - The delay feedback is continuously held as long as the button is pressed.
• Warp - Increases delay feedback and level simultaneously for a very expressive effect.
• Twist - Controls multiple delay parameters with one press, creating wild sounds as if several knobs on the DD-500 were adjusted simultaneously.
• Moment - The delay sound is only audible while the button is held down.
• Roll 1/2 - Changes delay time to half the selected setting (hold button down!).
• Roll 1/4 - Changes delay time to a quarter of the selected setting (hold button down!).
• Roll 1/8 - Changes delay time to an eighth of the selected setting (hold button down!).
• Fade In - Fades the delay sound in.
• Fade Out - Fades the delay sound out.
• Assign 1-8 - Allows assignment of up to 8 different delay parameters at once.
