These Ortega mounts come with a really solid block of wood and the arms of the actual mount could easily support guitars. There is no fear that an instrument could ever fall. The dimensions are practical, my Kala and Flight ukuleles hang well and securely. Due to the cranking of the holder and the thick padding, the uke hangs on day 1 a little slanted forward away, but that gives itself as soon as the cushion takes shape.
