I wouldn't recommend it for beginners like me. Unless you want to get to grips with scales before you play the first fingering. Then it goes right on with slides, hammer-on, pull-off,... Not for me. Ahja - book is from 1987 revised 2000 - one notices

A very nice beginner's book, easy to understand and with good accompanying material on the CD. But it is only designed for bluegrass style, not for old-time styles. For Bluegrass friends it is just the right thing!
