P. Mauriat Tenor Saxophone ST-86 Gold Lacquered

A beautiful instrument.
It responds very well, especially in the low register, and impresses with a very warm sound, especially in the lower range. In the "g" to "c" range it becomes somewhat thinner and tends to roll over a little, but then retains volume from the "d" onwards. The intonation is okay. For me personally, the fingering ergonomics take a little getting used to (compared to Yamaha or Selmer). Except for the "d" key, which I would have adjusted by an instrument maker. The Bb double key also takes some getting used to. But that's quite normal when you change brands.
Personally, I really like the unclacked look, but that is of course a matter of taste.
My conclusion: A solid instrument with a beautiful sound. The sound is (compared to my YTS-62 from the 80s) warmer in the low register and somewhat thinner and sharper in the high register; the intonation is somewhat worse. In my opinion, the instrument is therefore well suited for jazz and rock or brass music. For classical music, it lacks a touch of volume. That's why I ultimately decided against it. But if you're looking for a solid instrument with a balanced sound and an extravagant look at an affordable price, you can't go wrong here.
