We are delighted and proud to now exclusively present and offer you the new Eb clarinet, model "Bähr", from Martin Foag’s premium instrument workshop. The model "Bähr" (German system) is perfectly suited for use in small brass bands, music clubs, and various ensemble formats due to its powerful and clear tonal character. Ambitious amateur musicians and (aspiring) students will truly enjoy this model!

The model "Bähr" features 20 keys, 5 rings, and 4 trill keys, equipped with fork-F and fork-B mechanisms. It is fitted with high-quality clarinet pads made of KLX-MagTex (microfilter laminate), which is especially durable and absolutely waterproof.

The included mouthpiece is perfectly matched to the instrument. It has thicker walls, ensuring better sound transmission and outstanding tone projection. When producing additional mouthpieces, Foag follows customer-specific wishes or specifications.

The high-quality materials used in the two-piece body and the silver-plated mechanism promise a long instrument lifespan and unspoiled joy in playing for many years.

Premium Equipment

Clarinet maker Martin Foag demands high standards not only for his instruments but also for the included accessories. The model "Bähr" is delivered in the elegant clarinet case "No. 95" from the case manufacturer Kariso in Wolfhagen, Hesse. The functional, lockable case naturally holds the clarinet itself as well as plenty of accessories.

The delivery includes, besides care accessories, a high-quality mouthpiece from the Viennese manufacturer Gleichweit, a reed screw from GF-System in Upper Bavaria, and a clarinet reed.

About the Model’s Namesake

This Foag model bears the name of the German clarinetist Franz Joseph Bähr, born in 1770 in Deiningen (Donau-Ries) and died in 1819 in Vienna. In his youth, Bähr sang in a boys’ choir and learned to play the violin. After receiving a clarinet as a gift at age 15, he devoted himself primarily to this instrument. He took clarinet lessons in Würzburg and showed great talent. Subsequently, he gained recognition as a soloist, played prestigious concerts, and went on concert tours with various contemporaries.

In 1796, Bähr moved to Vienna, where he appeared as a soloist and in various orchestras. Until 1807, he participated in several premieres and concerts by Ludwig van Beethoven. Due to increasing chest ailments, he retired in 1808 and lived with his wife Barbara in Vienna until his death.
