Jens Björn Larsen, formerly with the Copenhagen Radio Philharmonic, now with the European Chamber Orchestra and Tuba Professor in Hannover, celebrated all his major successes and awards on his B&S F-Tuba 3100W and couldn’t find a comparable instrument...
Until he got involved in development at B&S itself: the basic concept remained, but the proportions within the body were changed, all slide bends were freed from it, and a completely different leadpipe was installed, housing the 1st valve in its course.
With this, B&S surpassed Jens Björn Larsen’s original goal of matching the model – the new design was simply better, responded more easily, tuned better, and retained the typical B&S F-Tuba sound, which does not try to imitate a C-tuba tone.

The B&S F-Tuba concept has influenced the sound and response expectations of generations of tubists for over 40 years. About the Namesake Jens Björn Larsen
Jens Bjørn Larsen has received several national and international awards. In 1991, he won 1st prize at the "Concours International d'Execution Musicale" in Geneva, marking the start of an unusual solo career for a tubist. From 1987 to 2005, Bjørn Larsen was tubist with the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra. He is also a lecturer at the conservatories in Malmö and Copenhagen.
In 2002, Jens Bjørn Larsen was appointed professor of tuba at the University of Music, Drama and Media Hannover.
