Many children are fascinated by the trombone. It has a powerful, pleasing sound that can glide smoothly from note to note, and it's visually striking — an instrument that promises fun! But unlike most other instruments, most trombones can't be played by very young children.

Modern trombones are built for adults, and many who would like to start can't reach far enough to play all slide positions. That's why the Yamaha 350C was created. It's a full-size trombone that uses the traditional slide positions but has a much shorter overall length. With its ascending valve, a full scale can be played without using the two furthest positions.

How It Works

The secret of this revolutionary design is the ascending valve. Played 'open', the trombone uses the full length of the Bb tubing. When the lever is engaged, the instrument's pitch rises by a semitone, eliminating the need for the 6th and 7th slide positions.

Conventional trombones are long, unwieldy instruments. The 350C is not only shorter but also significantly better balanced, making it easier and more comfortable to hold.
