Practice tuba whenever and wherever you want? Whether late at night in a noise-sensitive apartment, in a shared flat with sensitive roommates, or on the road in a hotel room? With Yamaha’s Silent Brass mute set, that’s no problem. The USB port on the Personal Studio also gives you many additional possibilities and features compared to the previous generation.

The Silent Brass system consists of a small, lightweight mute with almost natural blowing resistance and the Personal Studio, which features Yamaha’s exclusive Brass Resonance Modeling technology. Together, these two components reproduce the natural sound of the instrument through headphones—you hear yourself almost as if you were playing without a mute.

Silent Brass Mute

The Silent Brass Pickup Mute is a state-of-the-art pickup mute with an integrated microphone. The lightweight and compact Silent Brass mute system reduces the sound impressively. Intonation remains stable in all registers.

The playing feel is excellent thanks to optimal airflow and almost natural blowing resistance. The compact design allows the entire mute to fit inside the bell, making it easy to store in the case as well.

Silent Brass Personal Studio with AUX-In & Brass Resonance Modeling

The Personal Studio STJ serves as the compact control center of the Silent Brass system. It delivers the original instrument sound to the headphones. Songs or playbacks from an external audio source can be fed in via the AUX-In. Of course, you can perfectly tailor the sound of the system to your preferences.

Yamaha’s unique Brass Resonance Modeling uses modeling to correct the sound produced by the Pickup Mute so that the resonance characteristics of the instrument are achieved as if playing without a mute. The resulting sound has a pleasant resonance.

Silent Brass Now with USB

The USB cable transmits the signal from the Pickup Mute and your voice (when using the supplied headset) to a computer or smartphone/tablet, enabling recording via software or participation in online lessons (optional, via teleconference app). Additionally, audio files from the connected device can be played back.

An adapter is required to connect to smartphone / tablet / iPhone / iPad.

Unlock Full Potential with the Yamaha Rec'n'Share App

The Personal Studio STJ can be connected to the free Yamaha Rec'n'Share app for smart devices. This lets you play along with stored audio files and capture your performance as an audio recording or video, which can also be shared online.

With the Rec'n'Share app, you can also change the playback speed of the original music or use the AB repeat function to practice only a specific section. You can add a click track and use other features that make practicing more productive and enjoyable.
