Depending on which position the ring-shaped FlexMaxx is fitted, the clarinet's sound changes. If the vented side faces the reed (Position "Bright"), a radiant, projecting sound unfolds, which soloists for example prefer. If the closed side faces the reed (Position "Focus"), you get a more homogeneous, warmer overall sound with greater depth.

Sonically the ligature sits between textile ligatures (less muffled) and metal ligatures (warmer and more balanced), making it highly versatile.
