New AN-X Engine
With a revolution in authentic analog sound, control, and behavior, the AN-X engine reproduces the warm, classic sound of analog synthesizers including sophisticated modulation options.

Optimized AWM2 Engine
Experience realism and detail with the optimized AWM2 engine of the MONTAGE M. With an incredible 128 elements per part, AWM2 allows smooth transitions and an expandable canvas for high-resolution sound painting, especially for renowned sounds like piano and strings.
400-Voice Polyphony
As a significant upgrade from the original MONTAGE's 256-voice polyphony, the MONTAGE M offers up to 400 voices distributed across three engines:
- 128 voices for AWM2 preset waveform parts

Preset Wave & Flash Memory Upgrade
MONTAGE M now offers twice the memory of its predecessor, increasing preset wave memory from 5.67 GB to 9.97 GB and user flash memory from 1.75 GB to 3.8 GB. Alongside this, many new sounds and instruments have been added, including pianos, orchestral instruments, drums, and much more!
FM-X
MONTAGE M revitalizes Yamaha's legacy of expressive and dynamic FM sounds through the integrated FM-X engine with up to 8 operators, delivering a wide range of sounds from crisp bell-like tones to edgy, aggressive, or smoothly evolving sounds. A perfect complement to the AWM2 and AN-X engines.
VCM Rotary & Drawbar Behavior
Thanks to advanced modeling technology, the VCM rotary speaker effect precisely simulates the rich and immersive movement of a classic rotary speaker cabinet. Additionally, the new organ drawbar fader setting reproduces the behavior of real drawbars.
16 Library Locations
With 16 available library slots, you can manage up to 10,240 additional performances (in addition to the 2,700 performances within the presets) and quickly search by category, name, and attributes.
Pure Analog Circuit 2
The updated Pure Analog Circuit of the MONTAGE M reduces noise and improves dynamics, crosstalk, low-frequency phase, and distortion rate, resulting in clearer sound at any volume. Additionally, the sound gains a more detailed representation of the lower mids and more presence.
New Performance Controllers
MONTAGE M integrates new performance controllers: a ribbon controller divided into 5 sections including a specialized HOLD button, a new KEYBOARD HOLD button for sustained chords during sound editing, a portamento ON/OFF button, and a dedicated portamento time knob.
Specialized Keyboard, Part, and Scene Control
You’ll find specialized buttons for keyboard, part, and scene control, allowing you to manage up to 16 parts per performance. Beyond generally improved usability, these intuitive controls especially expand your live performance into a whole new dimension.

Motion Control Synthesis Engine
This groundbreaking engine lets you interact with sounds in various ways, such as through motion sequences that dynamically automate synth and effect parameters even in tempo sync. The Super Knob controls dozens of modulations simultaneously with a single hand movement, while the envelope follower generates modulations from an incoming signal (A/D input) or another part. The engine also offers many other sound editing possibilities.
Faster and More Intuitive Navigation
The optimized navigation enables fast, intuitive sound editing and operation. New features include a 512 x 64 pixel LCD screen, 6 touchscreen display knobs, and a PAGE-JUMP button that moves the LCD screen content to the larger 7" TFT color touchscreen for further editing. The specialized navigation button lets you get an overview of an entire performance at any time. To jump to a parameter and edit it in detail, simply touch the corresponding graphical object on the screen. The dedicated navigation button lets you dive from the surface of a sound into the depths of sonic details.
USB-MIDI and Multichannel Audio Interface
Simplify your studio setup with the MONTAGE M’s USB-MIDI connectivity and integrated multichannel audio interface with 32 outputs and 6 inputs. Easily record MIDI, monitor virtual instruments, and multitrack audio recordings over a single USB cable, saving valuable time for more creativity.
