Clavia Nord Wave 2 - Performance Synthesizer!
The Nord Wave 2 is a powerful 4-part performance synthesizer that combines virtual analog synthesis, samples, FM, and wavetable with an intuitive, layer-focused interface.

With 48-voice polyphony, innovative performance features, and practical controls, the Nord Wave 2 offers outstanding sound possibilities with advanced layering and tweaking functions on the fly.
The new Nord Sample Editor lets you effortlessly create your own samples. The comprehensive effects section invites sound experimentation and design. The perfectly matched 61-key keyboard, Nord’s unique morphing and impulse morphing functions, and the new polyphonic arpeggiator—allowing you to create your own patterns—make the Nord Wave 2 the ultimate performance machine.
Filter Section
The filter section features 6 filter types including classic 12 and 24 dB low-pass, a high-pass, high-pass/low-pass, and band-pass filter, plus an impressive emulation of the transistor ladder filter from the legendary Mini.
The unique modeling of these filters captures the true character and response of classic analog instruments, enabling flexible and precise sound design. The filter section is equipped with a full ADSR envelope.
LFO and Modulation Section
The Wave 2 provides each layer with a dedicated LFO offering a selection of waveforms plus an AD/AR modulation envelope with dedicated speed control and invert mode. The LFO has multiple modulateable parameters and its rate can be synced to the master clock.
Amp Envelope
The amp section features a full ADSR envelope equipped with a powerful new transient attack mode to add more punch to your sounds.
Morphing and Impulse Morphing
The Wave 2 offers an extensive range of morphable parameters controlled by four different sources: velocity, aftertouch, wheel, and control pedal. All morph sources can be quickly assigned to control multiple parameters simultaneously. With the powerful impulse morph function, you can instantly change any parameter of your sound.
Wheel Assignment
Assign modulation wheel immediately to LFO, oscillator control, or filter.
Advanced Polyphonic Arpeggiator with Gate
The Nord Wave 2 is a true rhythmic powerhouse with a classic arpeggiator and a polyphonic mode featuring directly editable patterns.
Polyphonic Mode
The poly mode is a polyphonic arpeggiator that plays all held notes either linearly or randomly with different inversions, generating exciting harmonic variations.
Gate Mode
The brand-new gate mode chops your sound into a rhythmic pattern with adjustable depth.
Master Clock
The Wave 2’s master clock allows synchronization of LFO, arpeggiator, and various effects, either internally or via an external MIDI clock. With master clock sync, you can synchronize 4 layers with individual patterns, all perfectly synced with delays and LFOs. The tap tempo function lets you easily tap along to a drummer’s tempo or track playback.
Effect Section
A separate effect section for each layer with a wide selection of instantly adjustable, high-quality stereo effects inspired by classic stomp boxes.
Modulation Effects
Tremolo, pan, ring modulator, chorus, ensemble, and vibe effects with rate and amount control. All effects can be controlled via control pedal (or other morph sources) and can also be synced to the master clock for rhythmic effects.
EQ & Drive
EQ with bass and treble controls—or 1-band sweepable EQ. A tube drive emulation is also available.
Monitor Mode
The new monitor mode displays your amp envelope and filter settings in the program display for better overview and control.
Layer Section
The Wave 2 features a program layer section with faders for easy volume or pan control of all 4 layers simultaneously. The layer section also offers handy functions for quick layer focus, panorama control, solo, and multi-editing.
Group Mode
The new group function lets you group 2, 3, or 4 layers and apply the same filter, envelope, arpeggiator, LFO, and effect settings—perfect for creating complex, multi-layered sounds that can be edited as a single cohesive sound.
Oscillator Section
The oscillator section offers 4 modes for each of the 4 layers: analog, wavetable, FM, and samples, and can be easily browsed with the new category mode. Oscillator control provides additional control over shape, sync, or detune.
Oscillator Categories
Analog: a broad palette of waveforms from classic analog to modern, overtone-rich newcomers:
- Basic: sawtooth, pulse with pulse-width modulation, sine
- Form: waveforms where oscillator control changes the shape
- Multi: 2 or more waveforms combined, oscillator control adjusts detune and spread
- Sync: soft and hard sync configurations where oscillator control adjusts sync frequency
- Noise: white noise
Samples: includes high-quality samples from the Nord Sample Library 3.0 plus the ability to add your own samples with the Nord Sample Editor 3. Use embedded sample presets for instantly playable dynamic sounds or shape your own sound from scratch with the "Raw Samp" mode.
Wavetable: a large number of high-resolution wavetables covering a vast range of sounds.
FM: 2, 3, and 4 operator configurations with harmonic and inharmonic variations.
Unison
The Wave 2 features a powerful multi-oscillator unison effect with true "super waves." Hundreds of overlapping waves create extremely fat sounds.
Compatible with Nord Sample Library 3.0
The sample section has 1 GB of memory and comes with a large selection of quality samples including strings, brass, guitars, choirs, chromatic percussion, and the exclusively licensed sounds of the legendary Mellotron and Chamberlin. All sounds are easily interchangeable with the Nord Sound Manager.
Create and Transfer Your Own Samples
Creating your own sample instruments has never been easier than with the new, optimized Nord Sample Editor 3 for Mac and Windows, allowing you to quickly transfer, map, and loop samples on your Nord Wave 2.
Delay
Advanced stereo delay effect with ping pong mode, analog mode, and tap tempo. New features include creative feedback options adding ensemble, chorus, vibe, plus HP/LP and BP filters in the feedback loop.
Reverb
The reverb section offers five different room sizes (booth, room, stage, hall, and new cathedral) to add atmosphere to your sounds. The mix amount is now morphable. New features include bright and dark modes for extended or reduced highs. The new choral effect adds a wide modulation effect.
Splits and Layers
The simultaneous use of four identical, equally powerful synthesizers opens extraordinary layering possibilities. The split mode offers three split points enabling up to 4 zones with optional crossfades. The flexible hold function lets you lock and hold slots independently in the background while you play something else over them.
Sound Manager
The Nord Wave 2 is compatible with the Nord Sound Manager software for OS X and Windows. The Nord Sound Manager enables easy transfer, reorganization, and backup of programs and is available here for download
MIDI Control
The Wave 2 offers the possibility to use MIDI over USB with a sequencer or with the Sound Manager software.
Keyboard
The Nord Wave 2 features a 61-key (C-C) semi-weighted waterfall keyboard with aftertouch.
The Hardware
Like all Nord instruments, the Nord Wave 2 is handcrafted in Nord’s Stockholm factory with incredible attention to detail and quality control.
