Taylor 117e Special Edition - Grand Pacific With Vintage Character!
The Taylor 117e Special Edition blends the proven construction of the 100 Series with a distinct, classic-acoustic-inspired look. Its Grand Pacific body leans on the rounded-shoulder dreadnought silhouette without a cutaway, aimed at players who want a traditional acoustic presence combined with Taylor's modern playability and build. The striking teardrop-burst finish and matte body give this special edition a deliberately restrained vintage character without changing the Grand Pacific's clear design language.
Torrefied Spruce Top for a Broken-In Character
At the heart of the build is a solid, torrefied spruce top. The thermal treatment gives the wood qualities that recall longer-played tops and grants the instrument a warm, resonant tonal foundation. Taylor pairs the top with laminated sapele back and sides. The C-class bracing, designed specifically for this build, ensures balanced response and projection. The Grand Pacific shape supports a rounded, full fundamental tone and provides enough dynamics for powerful strumming as well as controlled flatpicking and fingerstyle.
Familiar Taylor Feel
The smoked eucalyptus fingerboard features discreet 4 mm Italian acrylic dot inlays and complements the Special Edition's pared-down aesthetic. The Taylor NT neck is built in either mahogany or maple depending on the version and has a satin finish. With a nut width of 1-11/16" and a 25.5" scale length, the 117e is set up for a direct, comfortable playing feel. The white Nubone nut and white Micarta saddle insert form the functional basis for clean string guidance.
ES2 Electronics for Stage and Studio
For amplified use the 117e Special Edition comes fitted with Taylor's Expression System 2. This lets you send the guitar's acoustic character directly to an amp, PA, or recording setup. The instrument ships with coated D'Addario XS Phosphor Bronze Light strings. Chrome tuners, black binding, a black pickguard and a three-ring rosette complete the specification. A soft gig bag is included for protected transport to rehearsals and gigs.
