Characterful J-45 Tone

A selected bear-claw Sitka spruce top meets a back and sides of mahogany. This classic wood pairing supports the warm, balanced core tone the J-45 has been known for since its introduction in 1942. Strong low-end foundation, clear mids and a projecting presence make this acoustic a versatile choice for vocal accompaniment, recording, fingerstyle and dynamic strumming. The striking bear-claw figuring also gives the top a distinct visual texture.

Traditional Construction and Comfortable Playability

The mahogany neck is joined to the body with a traditional dovetail joint. Its slim SlimTaper profile sits comfortably in the hand and delivers a direct feel across the 24.75" scale. The bound rosewood fingerboard features a 12" radius, 20 standard frets and mother-of-pearl dot inlays. A bone nut, together with the solid neck joint, ensures precise string guidance and direct transmission of vibrations.

Historical Details with Premium Appointments

Multi-layer bindings on the top and back underline the exclusive nature of this limited edition. The top bindings are complemented by abalone elements, while an abalone soundhole rosette adds another traditional accent. The bound headstock carries the historic "The Gibson" script logo as a mother-of-pearl inlay. Gold Grover open-back tuners provide accurate tuning and match the instrument’s classic appearance.

Rosewood Bridge and Stage-Ready Electronics

The belly-up rosewood bridge features pyramid wings, a nod to early Gibson flat-tops. A bone saddle and TUSQ bridge pins round out the high-quality construction. For amplified use the guitar ships with an L.R. Baggs VTC system: the piezo sensor sits under the saddle and works with an active preamp. Volume and tone are controlled via two discreet knobs placed at the soundhole, leaving the J-45’s traditional look intact.
