Vintage Classic Reimagined - The Epiphone J-45 Reissue From 1942!
The Gibson J-45 was first introduced in 1942, and guitars from that inaugural production year rank among the most sought-after vintage acoustic guitars worldwide. The J-45 is Gibson's best-selling acoustic model of all time and quickly earned the nickname “The Workhorse” thanks to its unadorned simplicity, restrained elegance and widespread presence on stages and in recording studios. Now Epiphone, in collaboration with Gibson Custom, presents the Epiphone 1942 Banner J-45 Reissue — an incredible recreation of the legendary original “Workhorse” model from 1942.
This exceptional acoustic features a thermally aged solid spruce top reinforced with arched X-bracing, and a solid mahogany back and sides that deliver the rich, balanced tone that has made the J-45 a long-time favorite among players. The body is trimmed with single-ply ivory binding on the top and back. The one-piece mahogany neck has a V profile and is topped with an Indian rosewood fretboard fitted with 19 standard frets and mother-of-pearl dot inlays. The headstock wears the world-famous Gibson “Open Book” profile and is decorated on the back with the “Inspired by Gibson Custom” double-diamond logo and on the front with an Epiphone logo and the “Epiphone Inspired by Gibson” gold silkscreen. The three-on-a-plate tuners have cream buttons and an open-back design, just like the vintage originals.
The pickguard also retains the teardrop shape of the earliest J-45 models, while the rectangular rosewood bridge is fitted with a compensated bone saddle for improved intonation. The nut and bridge pins are also bone. To meet the demands and preferences of modern players, it comes equipped with an onboard L.R. Baggs Element Bronze VTC preamp and an under-saddle piezo pickup system, so it's ready for stage and studio use at any time. A Red Line–inspired hardshell case with the “Inspired by Gibson Custom” logo on the outside is also included to keep this extraordinary acoustic safe on its way to your next gig.
