It offers the same weighted, piano-like feel as the GHS keyboard (Graded Hammer Standard) used in earlier P-series models.
The P-225 features the sound of Yamaha’s top concert grand, the CFX. It uses Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM) Lite technology to reproduce the expressive, nuanced tonal changes of a real grand piano. Whether you’re an advanced pianist or an enthusiastic beginner wanting to learn piano, the P-225 is the perfect choice.
The Newly Developed GHC (Graded Hammer Compact) Keyboard Offers an Extremely Realistic Playing Experience
One of the main concerns for pianists when buying a digital piano is the feel of the keyboard.
Pianists pay attention to whether they can feel the counterweight of the keys like on an acoustic piano’s mechanism, whether the keyboard responds precisely when playing faster passages, whether there are discrepancies between the strength of the touch and the resulting tone, and whether the keyboard offers an appropriate dynamic range from soft to loud.
The GHS keyboard previously used in the P-series was highly praised by customers for its excellent balance and the aforementioned ease of play.
The newly developed and more compact GHC keyboard in the new P-series matches the playing comfort of its predecessors. Moreover, the keyboard is more compact than previous models while still delivering an excellent playing feel.
The Sound of Yamaha’s High-End Concert Grand, the CFX
This model, the P-225, offers the sound of Yamaha’s premier CFX concert grand, with brilliant highs and powerful lows. It is equipped with Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM) Lite technology, which realistically reproduces the complex resonances generated by the strings of a grand piano and changes dynamically with each keystroke. With the P-225, you enjoy the sound of a concert grand played and loved by famous pianists, along with its infinitely realistic resonances. Naturally, this instrument does not require tuning.

One issue that bothers pianists is that traditional pianos are often too large for many spaces. Additionally, pianists cannot take their instruments with them. The P-225 offers 24 tones. In addition to several grand piano sounds, including Yamaha’s premium CFX concert grand, you can choose from a wide range of extremely useful tones for keyboard players, including Stage E.Piano, DX E.Piano, Jazz Organ, Strings, and more. The P-225 also features E.Clavichord and Vibraphone sounds.

The P-225 comes with 71 pre-installed songs, including 21 demo songs suitable for each voice, such as grand piano, electric piano, various organs, harpsichord including jazz organ, E.-clavichord, vibraphone, and more. We recommend listening to these demo songs, which cover a variety of styles from simple classical to baroque masterpieces, R&B, pop music, and more. This gives you an idea of the possibilities the P-225 offers for your musical expression.
Whenever and As Often As You Want
One of the biggest advantages of a digital piano is that you can practice undisturbed and hear your playing only through headphones. At the same time, no family members or neighbors are disturbed by volume.

Don’t worry, the P-225 is equipped with a Sound Boost function that switches to a powerful and punchy sound in such situations. The P-225 offers new possibilities to enhance the instrument’s sound while playing and recording as audio data is played back on your smart device. Use these features when recording with Yamaha’s Smart Pianist app or via Rec'n Share.
The Stereophonic Optimizer
With the Stereophonic Optimizer, you can enjoy the sound as if you were sitting in front of an acoustic piano when using headphones. Thanks to the Stereophonic Optimizer, the sampled sounds of the acoustic piano seem to come directly from the instrument’s body. This provides a pleasant, natural sound experience and eliminates all unwanted headphone effects.
Convenient Access to Instrument Functions via the App
When you connect the P-225 with the Yamaha Smart Pianist app, you can intuitively control all functions via your smart device’s screen. There’s no need to flip through the manual to see how different operations work.
*When connecting your smart device to a musical instrument to use the app, you can either use a cable or establish a wireless connection with the Yamaha UD-BT01 (sold separately; iOS only).

A User Interface That Is Easy for Everyone to Use
This model uses physical buttons instead of a touch panel, so the main functions are easy for anyone to operate. Apart from the piano sounds, we selected only the most frequently used tones, including sounds for keyboard instruments like electric piano and harpsichord as well as strings.
Two-Way Speaker System for Room-Filling Sound
The position and angle of the P-225’s speakers are arranged to replicate as precisely as possible the sound reflected by the soundboard and lid of an acoustic grand piano. This placement provides the player with a pleasant sound perception when the P-225 is placed against a wall. This instrument is also equipped with Tone Escapement technology to make the sound clearer and more audible, offering the player the best acoustic balance. In addition to speakers that deliver brilliant and clear tones in the mid and high frequencies and a pronounced bass sound, the P-225 is also equipped with tweeters that produce excellent high-frequency sound.
Practice with 303 Classical Pieces
The aforementioned Smart Pianist app includes PDF sheet music for 303 classical pieces for practice, such as Bayer, Burgmüller, Czerny, Hanon, and more, which you can view and use on your smart device’s screen.
A Sound Image That Remains Clear and Distinct Across the Entire Frequency Range Even at Low Volume
Have you ever turned down the volume because you didn’t want to disturb your surroundings, only to find the sound image unbalanced and playing less enjoyable? The P-series is equipped with Intelligent Acoustic Control (IAC), which automatically adjusts sound quality to your volume settings. This technology makes it easier to hear the sound clearly by slightly boosting the volume of highs and lows to match the characteristics of the human ear, which typically struggles to distinguish higher and lower ranges at low volumes. The new P-225 now offers this function even when using headphones. This protects your ears and lets you play comfortably, even during long headphone practice sessions.
Relaxed Video and Music Recording and Online Sharing
If you want to record a video of your performance and share it on platforms like YouTube, TikTok, etc., Rec'n'Share is the perfect solution. Connect the P-225 to your smart device and record video with audio simultaneously to complete your video. (*A cable connection is required. Make sure to buy the correct cable for your smart device.)
