The original SansAmp Character Series was introduced in 2008. These 8 pedals recalled a range of eras within certain amplifier icons. By simply turning a few knobs, you could dial in the most coveted tones and craft your own hot rod. From rare vintage classics to roaring modern cult devices, each variant came with its own unmistakable voicings.

Tech 21 wanted to expand the palette of tonal options, took it a step further, and added extra building blocks. By simply turning one knob, you can explore and shape different eras within each amplifier style. Each continuously adjustable Character control sweeps through a full tonal range spanning decades of sounds. The character, EQ controls, and speaker simulation are individually tailored to reflect the specific traits of each amplifier style.

Additionally, each of these multifunction pedals is like a stompbox within a stompbox. You can use the amplifier emulation alone or just the effect alone.

Range of Character Settings

• Below 12 o’clock you hear the Bluesbreaker/JTM45 era of British blues—a warm, overdriven tone with the characteristic Bulldog bite
• Around 12 o’clock you reach the range of the Plexi sound with a noticeable throatiness in the mids
• Above 12 o’clock you get the classic presence boost of the 70s Metalface
• Turned all the way up it goes to 11. Yes, 11!
