Unobtanium RAW – a rare element with special refinement!

The basic design remains the same as the standard version of the Unobtanium pedal: On the right side, a detailed replica of the K-Style Overdrive takes center stage, while the left side features two D-Style amplifier voicings, representing the rarest and most sought-after tube amps in the world.

For the RAW edition, Crazy Tube Circuits added some magical ingredients to the clipping section of the K side: a selection of handpicked New Old Stock Mullard/Valvo OC45 germanium transistors from the 1960s. The Crazy Tube Circuits team tested many germanium transistor types and discovered that the OC45 transistors deliver a supernatural playing feel with organic compression, plus more gain and sustain. Don’t worry – the original sounds remain intact in the default setting, with germanium diode clipping from the original circuit.

The amp-in-a-box side of the RAW version is glassier and punchier than the standard version. Think singing blues rock and classic rock tones that cut through the mix and work flawlessly with all kinds of guitar/pickup combinations.

Like the standard version, the Unobtanium RAW features a passive effects loop, allowing you to insert your favorite pedals between the booster/overdrive side and the amp side, or use both sides as separate and independent effects, e.g., when using an external looper.

Unobtanium RAW includes a power-up bypass/engage preset function. This lets you choose the pedal’s state when powering up. This feature is especially handy for users with remote pedal switches/loopers, as the on/off state only needs to be set once and can then be controlled via the controller.

The RAW version does not replace the standard version of the successful Unobtanium pedal. It is built in limited numbers and will remain available as long as Crazy Tube Circuits has the wonderful NOS Mullard/Valvo OC45 in stock.
