Two Powerful Gain Worlds in One Pedal!
The Crazy Tube Circuits Orama is a fully analog dual-drive effects pedal that blends the distinctive character of classic British amplifiers with a dense, sustain-rich boutique fuzz. The separate AMP and FUZZ sections can be used independently or together, covering a wide sonic range from dynamic clean boost and open crunch to massive overdrive, heavy stoner riffs and compressed doom fuzz. An internal voltage boost, two fuzz voicings, extensive tone controls and a passive effects loop make Orama a flexible gain hub for demanding guitar setups.
British Amp-in-a-Box Sound with High Dynamics
The AMP section is modeled on the powerful tone of British amplifiers from the late 1960s and early 1970s. Its JFET circuitry reproduces the immediate response, the cutting midrange character and the strong low end of a high-powered tube amp. The Gain control spans clear tones and a slight edge-of-breakup up to dense classic-rock crunch and heavily saturated drive. The Master control supplies a high output level, so the AMP section also works as an analog preamp or as a powerful booster in front of an amplifier.
Internal 34-V Operation for Headroom and Bass
An internal boost converter raises the incoming supply from 9 V DC to 34 V DC. This lets the JFET circuitry operate with large headroom, wide dynamic range and especially stable bass reproduction. Picking dynamics, guitar volume and playing style translate immediately: light attacks stay transparent and controlled while harder playing yields increasingly powerful saturation. Despite the internal boost, the pedal must only be powered with a 9 V DC supply.
Extensive Tone Shaping in the AMP Section
With F.A.T., Hz, kHz and H.F.D. you can fine-tune the amp character to your guitar, amp and playing style. F.A.T. changes how much bass and low mids reach the gain stages. Low settings produce a tighter, snappier drive while higher values deliver a fuller, smoother and more saturated tone. The Hz control shapes body and weight in the bass range. Use kHz to set treble content, definition and attack.
H.F.D. stands for High Frequency Dynamics and adds upper harmonics, presence and extra clarity. This control is especially useful at high Gain, F.A.T. and Hz settings because it gives a dense tone more cut and definition. That keeps even heavy, bass-heavy riffs precise in the band mix.
Massive Boutique Fuzz with Two Voicings
The FUZZ section is based on a characteristic boutique circuit concept from the 1990s. Instead of classic transistor or diode clipping it uses power amplifier ICs. The result is a powerful, harmonically rich fuzz with amp-like compression and long sustain. The Fuzz, Tone and Volume controls manage saturation, timbre and output level. Tone ranges from dark, smooth textures to bright, aggressive sounds with strong presence.
RAW or BURN
The RAW/BURN switch offers two clearly different fuzz characters. RAW provides less gain, tighter bass and more open highs—ideal for articulated riffs, complex chords and dynamic vintage fuzz tones. BURN increases gain, bass and sustain for a fuller, more heavily compressed sound perfect for heavy rhythm parts, singing leads and massive walls of saturated fuzz.
Use Separately or Stack Without Compromise
The AMP and FUZZ sections each have their own footswitch and can be activated independently. Together they produce particularly dense, overtone-rich gain tones. Extreme gain and bass settings can intentionally produce a soft, yielding response or an intense blocking distortion. For a tighter sound you can reduce F.A.T., Hz and Fuzz accordingly.
The passive serial effects loop sits between the FUZZ and AMP sections. Use SND and RTN to integrate additional effects pedals into the internal signal chain or to use both sections completely independently with an external looper. Without connected cables, SND and RTN are internally linked.
Reliable Switching for Modern Pedalboards
Both effect sections use high-quality relay true bypass. On power-up AMP and FUZZ default to bypass. You can save the desired power-on state by holding the respective footswitch during power-up. This feature simplifies use with external pedal switchers and loop systems because the operating state only needs to be set once on the pedal.
Connections and Safe Powering
Input, Output and SND/RTN are implemented as mono jacks and are located on the top of the enclosure. The Orama requires a regulated and stabilized 9 V DC power supply with center-negative polarity. Maximum current draw is 82 mA. For low-noise performance a power supply with isolated outputs is recommended. A power supply is not included. The AMP section does not include a speaker simulation, so direct recording or mixing requires a separate speaker or cabinet simulation.
Robust Format and Handcrafted in Greece
The sturdy die-cast housing features a distinctive Burnt Orange finish and color-coded labeling for both sections. Despite its generous controls and connections, the compact dimensions make this dual-drive pedal efficient to place on a pedalboard. Orama is developed in Athens and handcrafted.
