The Sounds of a 5E3 Tweed Deluxe and a 6G2 Brownface Princeton in One Pedal!

A bit of background info: In 2016, Crazy Tube Circuits built a custom amp that can switch between the sounds of a 5E3 Tweed Deluxe and a 6G2 Brownface Princeton. They liked the sound and feel of the amp so much that they decided to pack it into a pedal.

The Falcon was developed as an authentic emulation of the circuits of these amps. Every detail was considered to replicate the behavior, sound, and playing feel of the preamp, phase inverter, and power amp of both designs. By using JFET technology, they succeeded in faithfully reproducing not only the overdrive sounds but also the lower-gain and clean tones.

The most important part was emulating the compression and sag that come from the power amp and tube rectifier. This effect enhances the pedal’s dynamics and musical feel, making it very responsive to your playing attack. Depending on the amp mode setting and the output of your guitar/pickup, this effect can be more or less pronounced.

Features

  • '55/'61 Amp Mode Switch. Toggle between Deluxe ('55) and Brownface Princeton ('61) sounds
    -
  • The '55 mode offers a bit more gain and low end so even the quietest guitars sound thick and full. You'll also notice significantly more sag/compression, mimicking the cathode-biased power tubes of the Tweed Deluxe compared to the fixed-bias power tubes of the Brownface Princeton ('61)
    - The '61 mode has less gain for that clean or slightly overdriven Brownface tone
  • Volume: Just like the original amps, it controls the gain intensity. The pedal’s gain range depends on your guitar pickup’s output and your playing dynamics.
  • Tone: The Falcon’s tone circuit is designed to behave exactly like the tone controls in these amps. Turn the knob below center to smooth your tone, or above center to boost highs and add a bit more gain/bite. It interacts strongly with the volume control—at higher volume settings, this knob’s effect is very subtle.
  • Output: Adjust the effect’s output to match the bypass level or boost your amp as needed.
  • True Bypass Switch: Your Falcon features a silent true bypass circuit that automatically switches to bypass mode during power failure.
  • Power Supply: Use an external regulated 9V DC adapter (center negative, ring positive). Maximum current consumption 40 mA at 9 V DC.
