The Qi Etherealizer (pronounced "chee ethereal-izer"), a collaboration with Yvette Young, is a multi-effects pedal that combines chorus, delay, granular effects, and of course reverb into a creative playground for atmospheric explorations. Known for her innovative and experimental fingerstyle technique, her passion for guitar pedals, and her role as frontwoman of the math-rock band Covet, the Qi reflects her approach to crafting lush, evolving soundscapes.

Effects & Sound Design

Chorus: Selectable between Tri Chorus and Stereo Chorus for rich, modulated tones
Delay: Pure digital delay with up to 2 seconds delay time
Granular effect with two modes:
- Grain Cloud Mode: Plays random grain samples for glitchy textures – controlled via the X knob (density)
- Phrase Sample Mode: Uses rhythmic snippets based on volume peaks of your playing – tempo adjustable via the X knob
Grain playback modes (5 options):
- Normal
- Double speed (+1 octave)
- Half speed (-1 octave)
- Reverse
- Random
Space control:
- Adds reverb – from small rooms to large, dreamy sound worlds
Tone control:
- Shapes the output sound with a synth-style low-pass filter

Routing & Control

Effect signal routing switchable between:
- Series mode: Effects feed into each other for evolving sound textures
- Parallel mode: Effects run independently – for custom mixes
Latching and momentary functions:
- E.g., grain freeze or delay oscillation for expressive real-time control
Global controls:
- Space (reverb), Tone (sound shaping), Series/Parallel (routing), Mix/Dry (signal blend)
