The perfect companion is now even more compact! Crazy Tube Circuits presents the Sidekick JR! Inspired by the original Sidekick released in 2019, this compact pedal combines the most used time-based effects—perfect for any ’80s-inspired setup and beyond!
From the shimmering, wide, and sparkling timbres of New Wave, Shoegaze, and Synth Pop to the effect-soaked sounds of Hair/Glam Metal: the Crazy Tube Circuits Sidekick JR offers an even greater range of sounds and algorithms than its predecessor.
The modulation effects and algorithms are inspired by classic effect pedals of the ’80s. The “Ensemble” algorithm delivers warm and smooth, modulated chorus tones, while “Dimension” makes the soundscape more three-dimensional without the typical chorus wobble. The flanger algorithm, inspired by a classic pedal, creates a slow chorus with subtle feedback for a more metallic tone.
The echo/delay section provides the popular, lively sound of a tape delay with fresh tape passing through a heavily coloring preamp, or the crystal-clear repeats of a digital rack delay from the ’80s.
The Sidekick JR’s reverb section is inspired by the most famous rack reverbs of the ’80s and offers two algorithm banks. Bank A includes timeless reverb classics like “Plate,” “Spring,” and “Hall,” while Bank B features iconic ’80s reverb sounds: “Gated,” “Exciter” (the well-known large reverb algorithm from Crazy Tube Circuits with nearly endless reflections and long decay), and the octave-up “Shimmer.”
To offer maximum flexibility in such a compact housing, Crazy Tube Circuits developed an intelligent switching system. The delay and reverb sections of the Sidekick JR operate independently, and the modulation effect can be assigned by default to either section. When using the XT footswitch (sold separately), the modulation section becomes fully independent and can be activated/deactivated individually (True Bypass).
Additionally, the Crazy Tube Circuits Sidekick JR features a “Power-up Bypass / Engage Preset” function for the onboard footswitches. This feature allows users to select the mode activated when powering up. This is especially useful with remote pedal switches/loopers, as the power-up mode is selected once and the pedal can then be controlled via the controller.

- External accessory - XT footswitch (sold separately), connected via a standard TS instrument cable, isolates modulation effects from onboard footswitches. Connecting the XT footswitch bypasses the modulation function of the built-in toggle switch.
- Click-free true bypass design via high-quality relays for each effect section (unless the internal reverb buffer bypass option is selected).
- Internal switch selects between true bypass and buffer bypass with reverb tails for the reverb effect section.
