The D3V is a fully active desktop monitor system designed for composers, producers, and music lovers who want to enjoy ADAM Audio’s sound quality as conveniently as possible. Available in white or black finishes, these active monitors feature the legendary golden ribbon tweeter and stay true to ADAM Audio’s established German industrial design.

Fully Active 3.5" Aluminum Midwoofers with Ferrite Magnet System

Optimized via ADAM Audio’s state-of-the-art Klippel measurement system, the extremely symmetrical voice coils and ferrite magnets help minimize unwanted distortion and provide the midwoofers with a linear drive. Each one-piece concave cone is made from ribbed, thick aluminum with a long linear excursion, delivering uncolored sound even at surprisingly high output levels.

The D3V is a fully active design with four amplifier channels and a DSP-controlled crossover. The midwoofers are powered by 80-watt amplifiers, with the link cable transmitting an amplified signal to the right speaker.

D-ART Tweeters

A quarter-century of ribbon tweeter research and development has led to the powerful 1.5" Desktop Accelerated Ribbon Tweeter from ADAM Audio. Each diaphragm is hand-folded and paired with 40 W amplifiers driving each unit. Like all other ADAM Audio tweeters, the D-ART features fine-tuning of the crossover managed by a high-precision signal processor.

Passive Radiators

The D3V uses double-sided passive radiators in each speaker, four per system in total. Each passive radiator consists of a stainless steel plate as the moving mass and a specially stabilized long-excursion rubber surround as suspension. Together, they enhance the speaker’s lowest frequencies through interaction with the main midwoofers, contributing to an overall increase in sound pressure level.

USB-C Direct Input

The D3V is ADAM Audio’s most convenient monitor system yet, featuring a plug-and-play USB-C input. The speakers behave like a digital output device when connected to a computer, smartphone, or tablet, eliminating the need for an additional audio interface. This direct digital connection enables high-quality audio playback without data compression or extra conversion typically associated with desktop monitors.

DSP Room Acoustics

On the back panel of the left speaker, three switches counteract typical acoustic issues caused by speaker placement. "POSITION" refers to the fixed position of the speaker in the room. "DESK" relates to the size of the desk in front of the speaker, while "ROOM" addresses the degree of acoustic damping in the room where the system is used.

Balanced Analog Inputs

In addition to the USB-C input, the D3V offers analog inputs for conventional audio applications. It supports balanced connections to audio interfaces as well as direct connections to various hardware, including synthesizers, drum machines, samplers, and DJ mixers. The USB-C or balanced analog inputs can be selected by pressing the volume control on the left speaker.

Headphone Output, Monitor Stands, and Mounting Options

Functionality and comfort played a big role in the D3V’s design. The front headphone output automatically takes over audio playback when connected. Included are 15° angled monitor stands. Additionally, both monitors have a standard 3/8" thread on the bottom for mounting on microphone stands.

Injection-Molded Housing

The D3V’s enclosure is made from high-quality ABS injection-molded polycarbonate with thick walls and generous bracing to prevent vibrations and unwanted resonances. The rounded shape reduces unwanted sound diffraction at high frequencies while honoring ADAM Audio’s long-established industrial design.
